The dealer emailed me expressing his surprise at the wisdom of Ford deleting the illuminated switches ... he tells me it's news to him as he was unaware they had done it.

Then how's this ...

He went on to say they would do the right thing when I bring it in for the 3000km check up and install the Fairmont switch (note the singular not plural) ... but only the drivers door unit nothing else. I emailed back and said I want all door switches or nothing at all ... I'm not having a half baked fix. I haven't heard back.

I believe they (the Dealer) are trying to do the right thing but at the lowest cost possible it seems. I think I will be doing the blue LED thing again ... at least it's "a project" I guess.

Just a quick note, No BA/BF utes or sedans/wagons with 2 electric windows have illuminated switches. In these cars there isnt the required cabling to drive the illumination. And the 2 door switches dont have the required parts or layout for illumination. if you check out http://ford.preciseonline.info under the ba/bf led section you will see the modification that I do to illuminate the switches.
