Long time reader, first time poster... :P

Going to buy a XR6T ute and have a few questions, hope you guys can help me out.

first, whats the difference between the standard icc and the prestige icc? is the luxury pack worth 3k the climate, prestige icc and audio worth the 1500.

second, I have heard that the ecu 'learns' but no one has been able to explain how this works? how you drive should not change the way the ecu controls ignition?!? (yes I know I have a limited knowledge of engines :hiwelcome: )

third, I want to do a few mods, (air, exhaust, edit) now this 'edit', just wondering how changing the ecu can get such large gains? and also would something like this damage warranty.

Lastly, bionic, neo, ego or breeze. :P (love the two stripes down the side would like to get them to)

thanks heaps

Felix

I will try to answer your questions :spoton:

1) What's the difference between the standard icc and the prestige icc?

Standard ICC has only 1 CD and small b/w screen, Prestige has a larger b/w LCD screen, and 6 stacker CD player, Premium has large colour TFT screen, 6 stacker CD and a dedicated sub-woofer in the rear parcel shelf (as well as more speakers all round)

2) is the luxury pack worth 3k the climate, prestige icc and audio worth the 1500

Well I guess that's up to you  They can't be easily changed once you have made the choice.

3) I have heard that the ecu 'learns' but no one has been able to explain how this works? how you drive should not change the way the ecu controls ignition?!? (yes I know I have a limited knowledge of engines

The PCM as it is called does learn what settings work best for your driving style, and stores this to be used for different situations.

Being a turbo engine, there is plenty of scope to extract more power, purely by optimising the fuel and ignition settings, as well as increasing the charge pressure from the turbo - More air=more fuel=more power

4) I want to do a few mods, (air, exhaust, edit) now this 'edit', just wondering how changing the ecu can get such large gains? and also would something like this damage warranty.

If you make ANY modifications to your car, warrant will as a minimum be void on the component you have changed or modified, and possibly on other components which are considered at risk of damage as a result of your mods.

If you 'play' expect to pay if anything breaks, as Ford will probably not rescue you (nor should they), and if finances are tight, you are probably better off not getting too carried away.

The Luxury Pack is $2995 it includes Sports Leather seats and the premium ICC. The climate control is great. I also got the passanger airbag on mine. Oh and dont forget the iPod connector...

Is it worth it? sh*t yes! The sound system in a Ute cabin isnt to bad it sounds better than my Territory Ghia.
