Marcus, if your tyres are so good then why do you always smoke em up?

A good tyre would just bite in, grip and go.

I only do silly things when they need replacing, cmon, your digging a hole here. I agree with your tyre choices but there are some contributing factors to why I use the Hankooks.

1. PRICE! Have you priced up 275/30/19 in either of your preferred choices?? I have, and it wasn't pretty.

2. It isn't stock like yours was, so it's a little harder to get traction.

3. And when new, they are I <3 Bananas awsome. Almost silent, and offer brilliant wet weather driving.

4. The fact that tyres usually last me around 8-10k kms, I don't see the point in putting on the best, cos in this drought, my money tree is drying up.

The best gripping tyre I have driven on, were the Azenis RT 215's I used to drag with. Once warmed, they stuck like sultanas to a sock, but again, in 19's I was looking at atleast 620 bucks a tyre, a bit too much.

More than one manufacturer makes good tyres.

Your 100% right. Pirelli, Yokohama, Goodyear, Michelin, Bridgestone etc.. all make good tyres.

However there can be only one tyre that can be called the best. At the moment that is Michelin with their PS2.

It has won more reviews than any other tyre, and is exclusive standard fitment on the CarerraGT, Bugatti Veyron, Konisegg CCR&X, McLaren SLR, etc.

Why don't I drive a Ferarri or any of these other cars? Well none but the Bugatti Veyron and CarerraGT have acceptable safety levels with high levels of passive and active safety features.

None have four doors, and if they do have a rear seat it's not big enough for a child let alone an adult.

The Veyron and CarerraGT can not be registered in Australia.

I have Maxxis MA V1's and they are great compared to the old stockies. $140 a corner. Last night in the wet they gripped REALLY well. Had them about 3 months and holding up well. Im very impressed with them.

The only other tyres ive used were commercial tyres and they, well, suck! and are no good to u

:tease:

I put Maxxis on the Mrs BA MKI after the factory :spoton: wore out after only 40kms. She doesn't drive hard or anything. Put them on for around $160 a corner and never looked back. Great in the dry, even better in wet, unlike the Dunlops.

Maxxis gets my vote.

I've tried the original dunlops, Narva (They were well below par, became feathered and noisy, sounded like blown wheel bearing) and now the Maxxis MA V1. The Maxxis were by far the best budget tyre of the three, fairly quiet and perform as per above. They are also on the 17" rim you're after.

Good luck

hey cro, just wondering what the best tyres would be to buy for my xr6t has 288rwkw was at drags and couldn't get that power down to the ground just kept spining, what would u prefer to handle that power, street legal that is I have been recommended buy people to buy the toyo R1'S I think it is and also the MT's street radial but not sure if they are road legal I want to keep my standard BF RIMS on the car and just upgrade the tyres for maximum traction.

Cheers,

The tyres you're talking about are SemiSlicks right?

They're good for drags and track days, but wear out too quickly on the road.

Get some Michelin Pilot Sport 2, you won't find a better gripping full road tyre on the market.

Might just pitch in on the Michelin-Roadstone/Nexen relationship.

Michelin was involved with Woosung (or Roadstone, Nexen, Capitol, Jupiter, whatever you want to call them) in the early 1990s. It ended up being a massive s***fight with lawsuits left right and centre. The truth is, Nexen/Roadstone has nothing to do with Michelin - it's just a sales pitch.

Not a bad tyre for the money (a far cry from the big boys) but their compounds and patterns are getting a bit long in the tooth.

Personally, I'm a massive fan of Maxxis MA-Z1s. The V1s are ok, but the Z1 are just phenomenal, and not just for the money. They'll give lots of more expensive tyre a run for their money. Constant hard driving (without burnouts) should give you at least 30,000km out of a set.

Sorry Cro, but Michies are so overrated. If I'm going to buy a Chinese or Thai tyre, I'm not going to pay a Michelin price for it. Maybe for a French Michie but definitely not a Chinese/Thai one. That's where a lot of Michelins are coming from these days and they are NOT as good as the French ones.
