If that is the case, I would think it's safe enough to do. Thoughts?←Yep that's it..... If you know why you broke it, you pay.. If it broke because it shouldn't have, they pay...Ford cant be expected to foot the bill for buyers field testing although I am sure they use the lessons.........I think they are doing thier best to keep the prices of our cars down..If you want warrenty....One word..Dont modify

XR6Tlazyshift Member 4 Member For: 18y 6m 17d Posted 03/03/07 02:45 AM Share Posted 03/03/07 02:45 AM I've notice New Oak Ford (in Oakleigh) sell Herrod Edit boxes (aka Capa Boxes). Does anyone know if one is to purchase this product through this Ford dealership that Ford will then still warrant the car fully????←I had Herrod gear suppled and installed by N.O.F , generic edit (yes, I know better now). Short story - pinging, blown piston, bent rods & complete rebuild. Ford warranty - completely out the window (no surprise there) - however N.O.F honoured their warranty and arranged Herrod to supply parts, and I paid ~ 1/3 of rebuild cost ('you play you pay'). Waiting for parts however? - different story - from dead engine to return of car took OVER 2 months . I doubt whether N.O.M will sell any more of Herrod Stealth kits (no dyno in the shop). One thing to sell a capa flash tuner, another to wave the customer goodbye without so much as a lesson how to use/drive/look after the engine with tuner. Kiss goodbye to at least to your driveline train & engine warranty! No beef with N.O.M as they were fair and reasonable and accepted a degree of responsibility (as did I) but Herrod ?? stick with the tired old V8's guys and leave the XR6T mods to *experienced* turbo shops ............ Its still a risk because I have a new trans under warranty, but that's my choice. What I would like to know is, when you get an edit done by someone, eg dont buy your own capa box, and you take your trusty XR6T into Ford for a service, and they reflash with the latest update, do you have to pay to get your custom tune back?
