You lose hardly any oil at all. Just place a rag to catch the small amount that does come out so later when leak testing you know it is fresh.

ok thanks. I thought mine would have been removed when my engine was replaced at RDP. When I queried wether or not they had taken it out I was told "Ford put it there for a reason". I was kinda shocked as its a fairly common problem.

I'm starting to wonder if removing the oil screen is somehow related to the hesitation issue I now have. Is there such thing as over supply of oil to these turbos? Anyone else who has removed the filter all together experiencing any issues?

Anyone tried this replacement line?

I put in a earls line today, when I went into ford for new o-rings he asked if I wanted the ones with the rubber seal, so obviously I went with those, the part number is V830185S100 for anyone who wants those instead.

Looks like a good oil line. Worth getting one and examining it at that price :)

Not sure what hesitation either, I have no screen for close to a year now.

This will give people a good rough guide for DIY Turbo oil line/Filter kit install...Because who cares about the factory screen when you have a nice big Earls filter stopping all the awesome metal chunks from spinning through your compressor wheel!

Hey guys, I'm going to give this a go in the next couple of days, I've bought the Earls kit but I'm undecided if I'll install it or simply remove the filter from the existing line, I've seen plenty of posts saying either is fine so I guess I'll see how I feel on the day

Anyway, my questions are:

I was looking for the Loctite sealant mentioned but couldn't find it anywhere, so I bought some Permatex High Temperature Thread Sealant, says it's rated to a max temp of 204°C, should this be fine?

Also, I've read some posts where people are purchasing new washers, some are reusing the existing ones, I was hoping to just use the existing ones to avoid a trip to Ford Parts if they should still be fine to use, thoughts?

Cheers

All done, decided not to fit the Earls kit and just remove the filter, it didn't look blocked but best to remove it anyway, was quite easy with the airbox removed, didn't need to get under the car at all.

I just reused the existing washers, thought I had an oil leak as after the I ran the engine for a bit to check for leaks, there was a few drops on the ground afterwards, but after driving around today I haven't seen any drops at all, so it may have still been oil from the initial removal of the oil line from the fitting, will pay attention over the next few days to make sure
