I just can’t understand all the ranting about this topic every time a new release is pumped out.  That’s the way it is, deal with it. :spoton:

Not quite true, when MS release something good they really do it well. The problem is this time they haven't released anything overly special and certainlly not something worth the $600 to $700 price tag for the "full version"

Well here's a thought....don't buy it if you can't see the value

I can't think of any scenario where someone would buy the full version in any case, but compare it to a server OS and it's an absolute bargain.

Talking about the iPhone, I can't wait for it to be released. From what I have seen of it, it looks awesome!

You may be waiting a while.

The iphone uses outdated technology in terms of its frequencies and protocols. Its called Edge, and is a 2.5G network (in reality that means its speeds arent very quick compared to more modern stuff). Telstra's 3G network was just ramped up to 14.4Mbps out to 200km from a tower! that's amazing. True broadband just about everywhere. Compare that to Edge....a measly 0.3 Mbps and you have to be close to a base station.

Only Telstra has an Edge network (as well as quite a few others). Telstra has told apple to go jump with the iPhone...Edge is outdated (they are trying to get rid of it). Also the demands apple make on the telcos are unbelievable...all in Apple's favour. The main Telco apple approached in the US also told them to go jump. Apple then went to a lesser telco and convinced them to sign up.

No other telcos in Austalia have Edge, so if apple want to sell the iphne here they will have to sell it with 3G or else no telco can touch it.

Apple will need to release the phone in 3G - which they have said is coming (but God knows when) before it will hit Australia. If they continue with their silly demands, then they will have to use a telco with lesser and slower coverage. Telstra would be ideal as their network is damn fast and has much better coverage than the others - especially in areas a bit further away from cities. If they go Optus or 3 (the likely ones they will also consider) then some people wont be happy as they have got rid of their phones in the past with those carriers due to poor coverage in the areas they frequent.

Dont hold your breath for the iPhone in Australia until you hear announcements the iPhone is now available in 3G.

Well considering that it's not due here until sometime in 2008, I would think there would be a good chance that it will come in 3g. I don't see how anyone will be interested in all it's functions when it's too slow to do anything.

We got a new PC for the office yesterday and could only get a Vista version with Office 2007.

Yes, I said Wow.

Wow, this is sh*t house!!

Why does Microcrap insist on making changes for the sake of calling it a new product. It is frustrating to have to sit there and find where things are. Couple that with an issue that Office 2007 doesn't seem to want to read our Access databases.

If they don't get it working today, I'll be sending the piece of crap back and getting something with the tried and trusted XP on it.

I like it... just dont like the fact that you have to update to new versions of everything. e.g. Nero 7, Trend PC-cillin 7, Nokia PC Suite (no update for Vista yet), etc

I have been in the IT industry for 15 years and have never seen such a backlash from users of Vista.

I have it at work and home and I do not like it much. The main reason is performance. My PC's are the latest spec with 2Gb RAM and DuoCore CPU, but it runs like a dog. Office 2007 is a PIA as everything is changed. Try to find the undo button :welcome2:

I had to go to Vista as we need to know about the latest and greatest, but I have only had one client insist on getting Vista, and he asked to be rolled back to XPP after 4 days of trying to use it.

I also love the new Apple ads with the ALLOW or DENY guy
