Im using it and I've had two problems.

Once I upgraded my Optus broadband wouldn't work. I fixed that problem by flashing generic firmware into my modem.

The second problem was I kept getting a COM Surrogate error. This was fixed by getting the latest updates for Nero.

Other than that I like it.

I think it feels quite snappy for general usage.

But really requires at least 1gb of ram as with 768mb there's next to nothing left of it. :P

Still runs smooth though.

Who's tried Office 2007? I'm having trouble getting used to the feel of it. Completely different interface.

after reading what some of you have said about vista being slower than XP it really made me laugh :w00t2:

If you are running hardware that was designed for vista (eg. a 965 MB and E6xxx processor) then you will find that vista is ALOT FASTER than XP.

for example, my media PC cold boots into vistas media centre in just under 30 seconds, while the exact same hardware booting into XP's media centre takes just on 50 seconds.

This is not the only time you can tell its quicker, in almost every task you do the vista machine is just more responsive than XP on the same hardware.

Where I do agree with what some other guys have said is if you try to stick vista on older hardware then it will be slower than running XP. I have also tested a amd 3000+ machine for boot times and if the machine has 1gb of ram, then vista is a fair bit slower, but if you put 2gb in there isnt much difference however XP is still quicker by about 5 seconds.

the funny thing is though that even though vista is faster on my hardware I still run XP with media centre because there is still no way for me to software control my system fans in vista which either makes the machine run too hot or too loud :fool:

the DRM in vista is pretty full on so I can understand why some people would be complaining about not being able to copy things that are protected by DRM.

early on in the vista builds I had issues with burning DVD's but as newer 3rd party software came out I havent had any problems.

Vista. Hasta La Vista

:sleepystuff:

Biggest waste of manpower and money in the history of software development.

It's not even ready for prime time. Don't talk to me about your prebuilt systems. If you got NIC cards or printers etc etc and need good drivers with full functionality and speed it's a long way from ready. Call me in 6-12 months or after SP1. But guess what, if you want DX10 it's the only way you'll get as they won't make it available for XP, eventually forcing an upgrade if you want to play the newest games.

But hey it's full of DRM sh!t to make Hollyweird happy and has a pretty interface, just like Linux did 10 years ago and Mac OSX 10 has had for 3 years.

:gooff:
