Are you sure his was a factory cover. mine has ally brackets that are aprox 3.5mm thick and is mounted with inhex stainless steel bolts. :rl: The idea behind the style of hinge on the flat cover is quick removal if required. It takes all of two minutes to remove and refit the cover... :spoton:

Youngy doesn't have a hard top.... but he reckons it's 'more fun' with the spare tyre off as well.

I will have to give a thumbs up to the spare tyre not there :w00t2:

I've heard they are bringing back the BA style hardlid as the BF style item isn't proving to popular.

Can't blame them, I'm glad I've got the BA version. Much, much better!

I rang my local ford dealer a couple of weeks ago and the bloke in spare parts told me u can still order the flat BA style lids but u have to get them painted, plus they are about $400 dearer than the BF ones with the buldge...

Good to see you've got yourself a real vehicle Mr Man :w00t2:

The BF lids take a bit of getting used to, but I wouldn't want to be a short arse trying to see over the top of one.

The mounts are definately different - the bracket on the BF runs right across the front of the tray.

It seems there are two very different mounting systems used for attaching the hard lids.

The first is by far and away the best, it uses a thick alloy plate that runs the full sideways length of the tray, and utilizes the bolts already there for the corner tie downs. I think you only have to drill 2 extrta holes, so it is much neater. The factory uses this method it seems, ive never seen a dealer fitted hardcover use this method, which is a shame. This method looks the best, and is definately the strongest.

The second seems to be the dealer fit option, two much smaller brackets attached into the tub. Much more chance of movement and moving itself out of alignment. :w00t2:

You'd think Ford would use just the one attachment method..... :wtf:

Oh righto - mine was factory fitted.

I don't beleive that dealers would do something dodgy though Mick. You're full of sh!t
