Every now and then my car wont start first time. It was quite embarrassing the other day while my work mates were looking on I had to crank the car 3 times before it fired up :angry:

Anyone else had this?

Mine wouldn't start at all tonight

Sorry, no constructive input from me at the moment. Got home, turned on the TV and a *%))$'ing great spark noise occurs and it turns off again. Wonder if I really should fly tomorrow????

Lightning....

Yep, had it a couple of times now. Seems to happen after not driving the car for a few days. Generally starts second go, but with a rough idle for a few seconds.

Also get a weird idle sometimes when stopped at lights or moving very slowly through peak-hour traffic - momentary surge of revs from normal (500) to about 1500, then to just below 500, and then back to normal

I've done it a couple of times, but it seems that if you let go of the key and the motor hasn't quite picked up, then it gives a little "sneeze" and takes another couple of go's to fire. It may then also idle like on 4 cylinders.

I turn it off and leave it a few minutes and then it's all sweet again.

Maybe the "sneeze" confuses the computer or something?

Richdave,

I remember a while back you had the near stalling problem. Then you had the solenoid upgrade(is that right?). Well, I dont have a starting problem, but sometimes I get that 'near stall' situation(which im having looked at tomorrow. Im just wondering if the solenoid upgrade cause the hard starting problem. Any of you other guys with starting problems had the solenoid upgrade?? Maybe someone can do a poll for this or something. Hope this doesn't sound like dribble, but in my mind, im just putting it all down to that blasted solenoid.

Rob

yeah it had a funny idle/stall problem for a while very early on but not now.....no upgrade to my solenoids that I know of unless they did it at 3000k service and forgot to mention it

Happened to me the other morning...( thought the Mrs must have got the security code changed to keep me outta her car!) normally fires as soon as the key is turned... This time 3 goes... cranking, cranking, cranking then "we have ignition" and all fine!.. hasn't done it again (YET).. She alternates between PULP & unleaded.. wonder if that has a bearing?
