Looking at doing a semi custom exhaust to our N/A XR6. Ceramic coated Pacie comps, 3" Cell density metalic substrate magnaflow cat, and an Xr6T cat back. From what I've read the XR6T catback flows to 560cfm, and the cat I want flow very close to 600cfm. How restrictive are the mufflers?

Ive seen XR6T's run 270rwkw without any trouble, which is way more than any N/A will do. But if I got rid of the factory mufflers with some straight thru, how much more would the factory system flow? I'm Guessing the mufflers would be the most restrictive part.

Would anyone bother replacing both centre and rear mufflers with some straight thru, or should I not bother, save some money and just rip the centres out and replace them with hotdogs like a lot of you folk on here do with your mildly worked T's?

I think the guys that use the XR8/XR6T system just use the standard gear. If your after a bit more noise be a guinea pig and let us know :)

If I had my time again I would just pick up this system nice and cheap from someone who's upgraded. Does the job perfect

Have a look in the Ford 4.0l N/A Discussion thread as there is a couple threads in there that has build ups of the xr6t and xr8 sysytems on the n/a 6, I have done one with pacies and hi flo cat and it works well and I did the whole thing from motor to tip for $331. I have also put a thread in this section as well about my n/a exhaust build with an xr8 exhaust.

I have put some sound on the thread in the 4.0l discussion so you can get a basic idea what type of sound comes out.

This is probably one of the best bang for your buck mods you can do and they fit straight in the only mod you have to do is the bit between the cat and centre flange which any exhaust shop should be able to do.

if you want any more help dont hesitate to drop a pm.

Cheers
