turbotrana Member 2,586 Member For: 22y 22d Gender: Male Posted 11/02/07 12:30 AM Share Posted 11/02/07 12:30 AM (edited) There are a range of factors to look at, the main one I look at is the driver and their views on servicing/driving and general attitude on cars. An older driver (40+) who parks the car undercover and has log book servicing is worth heaps more than a 20y/o rev head who wouldn't have a clue and lets his mates trash the inside and outside of the car. This is something to stay away from.Even reved out ex-chasers are a waste of time. Seen too many have an engine rebuild prematurely and alot with trashed paintwork and interiors. that's false economy in most cases. NOLMT4NT Member 10 Member For: 18y 2m 13d Posted 11/02/07 07:21 AM Share Posted 11/02/07 07:21 AM There are a few BA XR6 taxis driving around Melbourne. I've jumped in one with 400k and asked what routinely needs fixing/replacing. Reply was:BrakesRadiatorBushes in rear end.I quizzed him about transmission and rear diff and he reckoned there still hadn't been any probs yet. I was surprised given the EF used to need a transmission at about 250k and diff at 400K. Only a one off but could give an indication. My XR6T has done 100k, most of it Darwin to NSW, Qld and Vic return. About 20-25k pushing high speed in the NT (That fun's over now ). I've replaced the diff at 70k, rear bushes and had the brakes machined at 90k.Get NRMA/RACQ/AANT etc to check history of veh for you (about $150) Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/32295-xr6ts-with-high-kms/page/2/#findComment-496097 Share on other sites

Handbrake was 'adjusted' instead of being repaired, motor wise is strong, did the sparkies, oil and filter and the 'T' felt smoother and idled better. Oh and clutch needs replacingMine came from QLD, probably did alot of highway driving but stills feels good. 200rwkw from a stocker so the motor and turbo still doing fine.....for now Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/32295-xr6ts-with-high-kms/page/2/#findComment-496101 Share on other sites
