Yes, apart from that for very little dollars, specially if you buy second hand, you can do some basic mods that will make a world of difference. However do mods before tuning or yoyu will have to retune. Find a tuner (whos in Melbourne and where guys), and go and have a chat.

A generic tune is like a 'cost effective' pen*s enlergement, it's a great investment and will cause your driving enjoyment to be far more fun-filled than normal; but it's nowhere near a full-blown custom dick-ectomy that is tailor made for your car and your needs.

Having said that; I have just ordered my generic from C&V, from what I've read they're a great team and have been really helpful with all of my questions.

Dan I like the analogy, however this bloke needs to here from guys that have a generic then gone custom. He should also speak with a tuner. Time will tell what option he takes, hope it all works out for him.

Generic are good for a start...

But for safety and more power, even on a standard car get a custom tune. most people even improve there fuel economy with more power and then you still have the option of filling one of the slots with a "comuteing" or "fuel economy" tune.

I don't understand why some people will spend up to $60000 on a car, then spend thousands of more $ on mods, wheels, stereos, lowering etc and then only fork out for just a generic tune which may end up doing damage to the motor, why not spend the extra $600-$900 getting it custom tuned, that way you know it is safe and makes the best power

but I dare say ford put a little more time into their generic tune than capa..

I run a generic 10psi tune and the afr's aren't perfect but they are safe. bit more punch than stock but it could defn do with a custom tune.
