Can anyone recomend a place to take it to in melbourne that have done a bit of work and know about the T5's in the xr6 turbo? Just to get an opnion.

Nesh

Sell It or better still toss it and spare someone else the headache....

Then find A T56 and then your issues will disappear.....

I learn't this lesson the hard way... after saying NAH I wont blow it YEAH RIGHT .......

2 weeks to the day after it got Tuned... drove out of HPF on BVW II and it started whining then 3rd was left on a highway somewhere in sydney 2 weeks later...

Don't bother with the T5 if your chasing decent numbers.. The twist (torque) that these motors produce is to much out out of stoker let alone something with some decent power, coupled with a good clutch setup and grippy tyres the T5 will munch itself.. POS

Save yourself the headache Go the T56

My 2c worth...

mine makes a shrill vacumm sucking noise when I accelerate in second between 2500 & 3000 rpm. I'm assuming it's the bearing closest to 2nd gear. but when you put a bit of pressure on the gearstick back towards your left leg it goes away so I don't know.................. :tease::spit:

anyone else had that problem? :spit:

I bet Ford never changed your origional box and that you still have the same one.

If you are going to mod the car, then get a T56 as the T5 sucks for any power above stock.

If you have a stock car, take it back and get another T5 under warranty.

It is NOT NORMAL.

I know 100% they changed it because I saw them working on the car and the box feels totally different. Very firm and I supose a little stiff going into gears. Its much stiffer than the old one so its definately a new one but same rattle problem as old one. Can the tail shaft effect a box in some way? Do tail shafts getting balanced have anything to do with the gearbox?

WTF?? Your car was tuned by the Wog?? How is this stock??

You took the 968's out, so you wouldn't have the ability to munch your 5 speed?

Buy a 6 speed box or sell the car.

My mates Mk1 GT had the crappy 5 speed (i think its called 3560?) what a noisy, rattly, poor shifting piece of :spoton: .....Got nutin on my t56 with a Mal Woods short shifter. The GT's box sounds like a 747 winding up if you downshifted into 2nd going any faster than 60kph.... :spoton:

Sounds like a loose selector... mine has minimal noise

Get the selector tightened and put some tranzmax Z in it, see how she goes.
