A guy I know says his SS LS1 6sp ute (2004?) does 100 in 1st gear..... my T56 sedan will just reach 100 in 2nd. Just wondering if this dude is dreaming??

I've never understood why jokers like that brag about that sort of thing eg: "I pulled 400 m/s out of 1st man", or the obligatory "what do ya pull out of first with this thing".

How it is a mark of performance I'll never understand, as its got buckley's to do with your engine.

If I had a 5 or 6 speed box that did 100 km/h in first it'd be

a) custom made and expensive

b) stupidly impractical

c) ghey

Plus, imagine the 4 hours of fun while you're trying to get to 100 (just like launching in 3rd or 4th I'd imagine).

Furthermore, while the bloke with the hectik 100km/h in 1st car is revving its tits off getting there, everyone else has long ago shifted at least once, and is calmly (and not necessarily slowly) moving off into the distance (forwards that is)

I gave the new HSV 307 gts a run from a few sets of lights in perth a few weeks ago in my 03 ba t auto. I've got a basic HPF custom tune, cai and center muffler removed and found that if I could control the shift from 1st to 2nd without drifting two lanes sideways it was not even close between us.

The beauty of the t with any decent custom tune is the effortless surge and adrenlin between 2500-5500rpm. I believe the xr6t as a package represents the best bang for buck on the market. :spoton::msm::blink:
