Why - well, see it works like this - when you have a 4l engine, and you boost one bar pressure, in reality you have a 4l x 2 capacity engine = 8l NA equivalent. In our case with stock XR6 T, you are boosting roughly 0.5bar, or 1/2 atmosphere, and in theory you have a 50% capacity increase, giving same displacement as a 6L NA V8 - but, only problem is, you have the same peak torque than the 6L V8 NA Engine, but much higher average torque. That is why nothing NA in the same displacement range with same peak power levels can realistically compare with a turbo engine, with the same calculated displacement. So, a 4l turbo engine, producing 400kw and 800nm torque, doing 1bar boost at the inlet, should produce same peak power than a NA 8L V8, so close to 400kw and 800nm torque, except average power levels on the 4l turboed engine should be higher.I am talking no race-prepped 8L, just something like a std 454 big block, not exactly 8L, but close enough for a comparison.Hope it makes sense. Then again, it may not.←Jesus! The things you learn on this site. And to the original postee, I did the same thing jumped ship and left Holden. Ive never looked back except to see one in the rear view mirror dissapearing rapidly into the horizon behind.←good info hey..Whats the go with your sig?? I have printed that info out to a fellow work collegue who still thinks that the Standard VX Clubby will kill the XR6T in overall power. He agrees that the XR6T will beat it off the mark but after over 100 Ks an hour he seems to think that the clubby will leave it for dead. Its interesting to say the least. Hey Guys, you are welcome - it is always nice to share information, and there's lots to learn on this site Wrt my signature - well, something I read in one of my many Engine Books, either Smokey Yunick's Power Secrets or Blue Printing book or somewhere - will dig it up again.Unfortunately my UTE will get some chemicals next week, just enough roids to take it to around 385rwkw's.....I will run daily tune of 350 or so, and for extreme thrill flash the max tune...Unfortunately, that will have to do for now in my F6, need to assemble a decent bulletproof bottom end, like to do it myslef and not buy a pre-fabbed one. Will post back next week this time, then at least the 1st phase of my planning would be complete. Would be nice to get some action happening instead of this boring 230 odd rwkw stockie F6....

The difference is the torque down low we get use to in the turbo... Keep a big motor spinning fast and it is a different story..... No lag ..... Robbo Member 249 Member For: 22y 2m 16d Location: Sydney Posted 22/02/07 12:27 PM Share Posted 22/02/07 12:27 PM I've recently gone from a BA XR6T to a BF GT and the T feels quicker and probably is. The power in the V8 comes in much later and the car does feel heavier. My GT is still new but after the 3000 service I'll give it some stick and see if my thoughts change. As great as the GT is, and I think it is great, Ford have kicked massive goals with the 4L Turbo. A true legend in Aussie motoring.
