OK Ross - certainly no offence was intended - even after you rephrase your post it still reads the same to me but that's OK - it's probably just the drugs heheheh.

Now if I'd wanted to offend anyone I'd have posted what rainy said - I agree with you rainy and I hope those wankers DO take offence and DO someting about themselves or their driving habits.

Where does the "lights on" option fit into this? I ordered it because I live in a grey and foggy area of the hills and I figured the only downside to HgAg is the visibility issue - really fades into the scenery. Might have to replace light globes on a regular basis but, my thinking was, if it prevents a prang, it's worth it.

Starting to have doubts because of the "wa*ker" element associated with the fog light issue. I only use the fog lights when visibility is really poor, usually due to fog.

Also, if the battery is about to give up, there is no way you can try to start the car without having the headlights on - could be a problem down the track, In an emergency, I guess I would just disconnect the low beams to start the car.

Anyone else ordered this option or have any ideas on it?

Oh,the 4.6% who have them on all the time, even during the day,Whats your game?Maybe its to compensate for your pen*s size. Are you really that insecure in life, striving for recognition, that u have to put your lights on during the day,let alone your fog lights.

Probably the same people who bought a new XR just so people would  talk to them(nice car mate!!)

You should start your own little group where u could meet every second monday, put your chairs in a little circle and compare your little willies while pondering what it does take to-GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that ALL vehicals should have a set of lights that are permantly on,

I agree, so long as it is not mandatory to wear a white bowling hat as well.

Zeke, the lights on feature works with your normal low beams. You can start the engine without the lights on as it is bypassed during startup and not activated until the engine is running.

You can just as easily turn your headlights on manually the way we've been doing it for years - I always drive with mine on in the day also, regardless of which colour car I'm in - it just makes you 100% more visible to others and that is good enough for me.

kidding of course (just to clarify), truck driving is part of the family business so I reguarly hear stories of motorists making life difficult for truckies.

As members of a society we should all be doing what we can to be more considerate of each other, not deliberately doing things that annoy people.

I for one will be turning my foglights off from now on.

Yeah, thanks for that. What tricked me is that the lights come on as soon as the ignition is switched on. I didn't notice till you pointed it out that the lights turn off while the starter motor is activated.

Also I could turn on the lights manually as you suggest but there are some problems with that:

1. Bet I'd forget the one time I really needed them

2. The ICC display would always be on night setting and the instrument panel lighting would always be on.

3. Wouldn't be long before I'd come back to a flat battery from leaving the lights on.

Anyway, thanks for your comments, esp re the starter bypass bit.

Regards

zeke

And what exactly would be the problem with that?

It's time to fess up ... I used to drive my previous car and my baby T with all lights on during the day, including foggies.

Since reading this thread and listening to the arguments for and against, I agree that low beam head lights only is the way to go. Having said that, I'm not happy with the ICC display and the dash lights, as Zeke has pointed out.

Is there a way to get the lights-on feature after market without the ICC and dash lights as well?

Cheers, Ken.
