Now I don't wanna open a can of worms here, but unfortunately I think there is still too much racism in Australia. I was born in Malaysia to an English father and Chinese mother, moved to the UK when I was a child and came over to Oz in 1989. Today I consider myself as Aussie as the next bloke and am intensely proud to call Australia home (even if I do still have quite s trong Pommy accent). I feel deeply patriotic to Australia and am passionate about our sporting teams (much to my Dad's dismay, I was beside myself with excitement during the recent Ashes series and was absolutely ecstatic when we won 5-0). I've even had heated debates with my immediate family about why I am quite so loyal and proud to be an Aussie. :fool:

However, having a Chinese mother, I do look a little Asian (obviously). And, much as I don't want to say it, I have been subject to occasional racial taunts, abuse, etc, from 'white' (for want of a better term) Australians. This was much worse when I was a little younger and, admitedly, is quite a rare occurence today. I do feel, though, that had I been in Cronulla on that day, I would have stood a good chance of being beaten up purely on my Asian looks, despite feeling the way I do about Australia. And that's what makes me really sad. I know I'm talking about a small minority, but I don't think that that sort of behaviour (open racism) can or should be tolerated. :fool:

Sorry for the off topic rant, it's just a subject I feel quite strongly about! :fool:

As for the BDO, if I were going, I'd be taking an Aussie flag. :gooff:

Do you want an Australian Australian flag or a Chinese made Australian flag...if the previous good luck.... :fool:

Anyone seen the Bullpit Day Ad on Fuxtel?

They've taken multiple clips from Kingswood Country and turned it into the Oz Anthem.  :gooff:

Yes it is a classic just like the show.

Unfortunatly, political correctness has made this sort of thing worse. Legislation is being intorduced to favour ethnics and dissadvantage anglos instead of making it a level playing field. This has caused animosity to the point where we get what happend in Cronulla and prople take it upon themselves to fight back.

I don't condone this behavior at all as I make a point of judging each person individually (if they want to act as a mob, then I'll judge the mob).

This Big Day Put rubbish just serves to make the problem worse and brings out the worst in people. All the organisers have done is to draw attention to the problems they had last year and waved a red flag, daring the offenders to do it again.

If they truly want to stop the violence then stop serving the alcohol. Putting a ban on a flag isn't going to solve matters, only make them worse.

For the most part I'm against using drugs but have you ever seen a massive brawl at a rave? Nope, me either. I've used drugs in the past and used to go to raves and recoveries all the time and not once did I ever see any kind of real trouble. I worked security at many doof doof clubs around the Melbourne CBD area and it was the cruisiest job ever.

I also worked many clubs in the South Eastern and Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and we could always count on a fun filled night with brawls and loads of trouble makers - with the police being called at least 2-3 times a night in some clubs. Even the coppers used to say to us that they should legalise drugs and ban alcohol when talking about the violence surrounding drunk teenagers.

The Chaser off the ABC had one at court today.

The bigger the better I say and instead of banning my flag at the big day out, lets ban the big day out instead.

spastics!
