If the cars were detuned to run in, there wouldn't be so many low km cars on here that have recorded 200+rwkw figures.

It's more likely to be a decent tune or reflash, etc. In my opinion, 15,000ks is too long for a normal oil to last in a turbo motor.

That said, once the free 3,000k check-up is done, all future servising should be done by a proper mechanic who doesn't take all day and charge you $600 for 25 minutes of apprentice labour and 3rd rate oil sourced from the lowest bidder by the barrel load.

That way, when the car has any warranty issues, your real mechanic can find the problem instantly, give you a report to take to Ford so they can do the warranty work. Otherwise the dealership monkeys will spend your first five visits quoting from their factory supplied excuse book, "They all do that mate, that violent shudder is a standard feature and nothing to worry about."

Change your oil more often than 15000km. the oil restrictor on the turbo fills up with carbon and stops oil flow to the turbo bearings. Mine is broken at the moment and it was always serviced by "my friends" at ford

If you had have been here earlier than you would have known to change to good oil at the 5000km mark...

another change at the 10,000km mark..

Then every 5000 - 10000 after...

Suggest Castrol edge....

speaking of the ford excuse book, the first page of street fords magazine last month has a big flameing of ford and there excuses, there all like that.

ford gets a pretty good spray from the editor and he signed the bottom of the page, as if to say sue me.

To be fair, it's a bit harsh singleing Ford out on this. All dealerships and manufacturers are the same in my experience.
