I think the run-in tune myth has been disproved several times though.

The only instance where a de-tune may have happened was the overboost fix for the early model BA's - but even then everyone had mixed results (I thought mine came out much better)

Hi all,

I'm a newish member of 5 months or so now since I took delivery of my BF Bionic in August.

What a car eh? I would never have believed you could break traction going up hill (!!) in a rear wheel drive, by burying your foot to overtake at 50kph...

Anyway, back to the topic... I have the 15k service due probably late next month, and my boss (who has a BA2 XR6T) tells me he noticed a huge diffence after the local Ford dealer waived his wand over his car at 15k's.

Are these detuned to any extent for the run-in period?

And what should I tell the local (overcharging) Ford dealer to do and check on apart from the textbook manual 15k service requirements?

Appreciate your advice on this.

Cheers!

Actually I heard that the ford service apprentice mechanics, not only steal the money out of your console, a couple of Cd's but they also steal at least 1 or 2 pound of boost off you to take home and put in there datsuns..

Bastards.. Should be a law against it.....
