Check this out in the Sydney Morning Herald:

Guzzle-Guts Falcon Out To Trim Fat

I think waiting for a Series II is looking like a better idea more and more. 2004 for a targetted weight reduction of 50 to 80 kg.

Read about that too in the SMH (Sydney Morning Herald). Will be interesting to see what they do come up with in the series II.

Colour Coded Leather XR Logos perhaps? :P

I find it amusing that we're happy to have a 6 that produces the same power as an 8 but when it uses fuel we're worried?

Personally, I think the figures that are quoted are crap. After 1500kms I'm still only averaging 12.8L/100kms.

Better fuel economy is always going to be a plus - both for the pocket environment. Fuel economy is exactly the reason why I won't go for a V8.

Anyway, think of the performance increase and handling you'll get with a little bit of weight loss.

that's exactly what I'm doing - waiting for Series II XR8 or second hand late Series I XR8.

I'm planning on shoving a 182/240 Barra engine into my car anyway, so there won't be any need for an XR6T.

Well, if the company I work for brings in salary packaging and I get the pay rise I was promised six months ago fairly soon then maybe I'll get around to getting a Seris 1 next year. I suppose the Series II wouldn't be released until at September 2004 at the earliest so it's a fairly long wait.
