Should I get a mechanical inspection before my car comes out of warranty to have anything fixed that I'm not aware of? or am I just being pathetic?

Youd be stupid not to..

They arent exactly the most robust car...

My warranty runs out in about the same amount of time. Have a handful of things I want fixed and will get a friend who works at my local Ford to give it the once over for me....

Check your turbo for loose or missing bolts and exhaust manifold carefully for cracks etc.

Mine came out of warranty in November and had both of the above spotted and sorted in October

I actually meant to have a mechanical inspection by an independent mechanic like RAA (SA version of NRMA) and anything they pick up I can take to Ford with written proof.

You might also consider getting an extended warranty. For a $1000 for an extra 2 years will bring peace of mind.
