And that's excatly why the XR6 is being more and more looked upon as a standard falcon. Before the XR6 used to be something a bit special but now there everywhere.

Because of that I think the Xr6 should replace the falcon (XT... futura etc) and then FPV do a spin on the XR6... that'd be nice to see... I wouldn't be keen on the FPV Rpemium badging price difference though... but I still would like to see what FPV can pull out of their :crybaby: to upstage the XR6... I wouldn't be surprised if they did do it... or release an FPV Body kit as an option with the next falcon...

anyway back to topic... if I was going to go for an XT or XR6 as a base for a drag car.... I wouldn't even bother with a new car... I'd go with the XR6 in a used form as the 4 valve engine would be a better block to work with... suspension is tighter.... and they're the same frame when stripped anyway... that's my opinion... there's also alot more upgrades for the XR6/T chassis and config than there is for the XT... makes it easier to work with... less things that you'd have to do....

I have got no idea how to take the tailgate off. I have the alloy sports bar too. but its alloy, it should weight nothing at all. unlike the tailgate there is diffently same kilos in that thing.

Race it how you drive it on the street....There are too many skylines and supras that head down the drags, gut the interior and pull the stereo out, others are running slicks and brag about how fast their car is. After all it is street category.

The XR6 is by far the better buy when you compare what you get against the XT. Now car rental companies are buying the XR6 instead of the XT, as the price difference is trivial but the added extras are far better.

Alot of fleet buyers now buying XR6 instead of XT.

Non profit organisations and churches purchase the XR6 as their company cars and drive them around for only 3 months or so then trade up to a new one. They purchase the cars tax free (a fair hike cheaper) and so when it comes time to trade up, the dealership has to pay them to swap cars!

And here we are stuck with depreciation coming out of every freakin hole ...

It would weigh a bit even though its alloy and the utes already have a 100kg weight disadvantage to their 4 door cousins.

Ive never removed the tail gate on the utes so I cant help you there.

should have gone for the alloy tray :P (they are very ugly though lol)

yep there not as nice as the style sides, plus in a style side items in the tray are more secure from falling off.

I plan on when I go to wsid for the second vist for this year, to try the weight reduction, when in the pits start striping a few things off. see how that goes.
