Ive got a few disaster stories.....

Years ago one of my friends was tuning a 360 Valiant Charger (remember them)

on a chassis dyno, when the throttle return spring jumped off.......it was just sheer luck he was standing beside it and not in front of it

I was sitting in the lunchroom when I heard the engine go to max revs then the screech of tyres as it jumped off the rollers. raced out in time to see the car ,with terrified apprentice at the wheel, do a huge burnout through the factory on its way towards the back wall! Apprentice just froze with fear and didnt even think to turn off the key. :spoton:

Had to go down to Kennards and get every accroprop they had because due to Charger sized hole in the wall the building (brick)was declared unstable. :roflmbo:

This happened back in about late seventies and, even back then, the damage bill (including the Charger) was still about $60000 :tease:

Sounds like quite a DRAMA  :w00t2:  :gooff: ...

was the tune and new clutch good though?

Did you ever hear back from the Pulsar with the "Ricer wide body kit"?  :spit:

- Daniel

yeah the tune and clutch was worth the hassles. The dyno read out is in the timeslip/dyno thread, its my 163kw tune :spoton: The clutch is also awesome :tease:

what I meant by the wide body kit is, the drivers side wheel well on the ute was bowed out like one, looked crooked, absolutley out of place, had to drive around with it for a month :roflmbo:

It was all covered by insurance from the pulsar driver

The Slow death of Evolution

Ok the ins and outs...

The tune to try and extract more power from NA06XR was greeted with plenty of confidence. Balancer was installed and a base run was given. Humidity caused problems on the day to start... Producing 6rwkw less than claimed potential, there was no way of telling whether the balancer had a postive effect or not...

The task of tuning this monster was gracefully accepted by tuning house "C" which after seeing the inital output, attempted a few punched numbers into the CAPA flash, and attempted a run. SMOKE !! No confident explosion to life, a choke and a cough... Too rich... Attempted another confident few numbers, punch it into the CAPA and try again... car starts, but no power... a couple of stutters, try and stick it into 2nd... no joy.. running too lean...

"The injectors are 'drilled' out" is the comment... "Come back and we'll flow test the injectors... " ...

a trip home, drop dear old mum and lil' sis back to the central west, then head back again for another go... (by this time I've travelled 1100+kms and only had a balancer installed)

check the injectors..

seems alright...

250-350's...

try a few numbers again...

no luck...

Air flow sensors are all over the place due to CAM Configuration... smallest adjustment to anything, throws the thing outta whack... "I'll need more time, this isn't as easy as it should be... Sorry..."

well guys there's my viewpoint...

the deal is it will take time for anyone other than Tuning house "N" in Melbourne to make any changes... "C" thinks that 200+rwkw is easily with in reach... but will take time... mapping every little variable...

Well... unfortunately I don't have the time to go sending my car across state, and then pick it up, for twice as much as it would cost me to go to Sydney...

I like going back to people I trust, but so far things have been weird to say the least... if there's no results soon... I'll be throwing my hands up in the air and giving in to sending it interstate...... I'd much rather not though...

anyways.. gotta get some sleep... talk to you all laters...

Tuning house n must have some secret tuning numbers that they arnt going to release.

Its unfortunate in this round that its has been a dissapointment.

Its good to hear that the balancer had made drivablity better on a cammed engine. So that's a bit info everyone can benifit from.

Not all is lost, just sucks that you live so far from everyone.

If only you could leave the car at shop c for a while for them to learn your engine.

that's plan falconutebeast...

I'm going to give Tuning house C their 2-3 days as requested some time this upcoming month, with a full week as saved grace... it took Tuning house N 5 weeks to get it right... I'm wondering if its just dumb hope thinking an unrelated tuning house can do it in less time...

yeah... its starting to get that way... I guess my engine's now up in that range of engine's that has to undergo R&D...

I want to get every last inch out of it... but with in my budget (which isn't much...)... So with the help of a select few, maybe we can do some stuff to help each other out...

:blink::blush:

(Roar of faith for Team NA!!!)

cheers...

(yawn...bed time )
