that's a good point too, I forgot about the VCT. For my BA engine conversion, I want to run the dual VCT and it seems that the only options are autronic, wolf V500 or a motec. The other ECU's only seem to offer switchable VCT like VTEC or similar where the timing is changed at an RPM point rather than throughout the map like the BA engines.

I will be using either a V500 or the autronic. Unfortunately I dont have a motec income :(

Yep it aint as straight forward as anyone would hope. factor in that along with a custom dash having to be made, dropping cruise control and the auto troubles and youd need a motec budget to install an ems and a race team budget to install a motec or autronic.

Dan you also might want to look into getting someone to modify the code on the BA ecu to only control the engine. ive heard it has been done I THINK Redcliffe are the people to speak to im pretty sure its been covered in the "other" ford forum. I know Blue oval garage have retro fitted boss motors into stangs and what not it wouldnt hurt to talk to them either.

How much time went into trying to make it work? how many people were on it?

I think I Have some ideas... but its all thought and no practical...

I'll pencil them down and try to refine it and prove it to work...

Geez.. have I found the right crowd!... but fark... why do I have to be sooo far away?

Lol where abouts are you mate? were you at the summernats by any chance I thought I saw those plates on an xr6

Probably a good few months went into it. it worked with stock manifold but as soon as the extractors and underdrive went on game over. I tried everything after that I even loaded a generic flash tune and still no go. unfortunately I didnt have my error code scanner then so I couldnt see exactly what it was spitting at me.

Im open to ideas mate :)

I was at NATS...

I wish I could work out who this guy who jumped outta the crowd to ask If I was on 'fordxr6turbo.com.au' was?.?.?

he jumped out the crowd, asked if I was from near Forbes (30kms south of Parkes) I said yes, he said somehting about the forums, and then disappeared into the crowd again...

weird... I Unfortunately after entering for the first time, found it to be a GMC major show... to my eyes and ears, either the Ford Fans are more sedate or more Cool headed than Late model camira followers... or its dominated by at least 90% GMC...

Yeah... just got ideas on how to fool the ECU into thinking there's only one throttle body and not having any load on the throttle body...

I'll work out some plans and then get back to you... or Greg...

A new ECU should be able to be run alongside the standard ECU so you can keep all of those functions. It wont be a new thing to most tuners as other cars have the same problems.

I tried to find someone to help me out using the stock ECU but after a lot of searching and asking questions only Brendan Mock was willing to help and even then, the labour getting the loom to where it needs to be, the cost of an edit and a standard ECU makes it unworthwhile. An autronic will be able to run a SOHC motor if I decide to put one of those back in as well. The EA is a factory optioned AIT turbo EA so it is allowed to have a turbo SOHC motor in it.

Ill have my fun racing the EA and building a nice strong motor then once Im over racing Ill return the EA to stock and buy a BA and put the motor in that.

Lol it wasnt me. Did you see a red XY with MNGREL plates? I was with that car (my brothers) campin near the wash sheds (where I saw your car). there was plenty of nice fords there regardless.

with the multiple throttle body ive run them both in parallel, run one on its own using a transistor and also used a mechanical linkage. none of them worked any different. if anything its the computer freaking about the extra air its getting that its not supposed to get. Share the plans its never a bad thing.

On my thread on the other forums a member RaceGT was trying to get a twin TB setup on his GT but the ford engineers told him it couldnt be done. he racked their brains for months but in the end he decided on ditching the fly by wire throttle and went for a cable driven throttle

I also have all the data and specification sheets for the fly by wire setup too if anyone is interested pm your email address.

Dan - Sounds like the best way about it sounds like a nice plan too. im surprised not one of the shops mentioned it to me none of them wanted a bar of it.

that's a problem about buying a stock ecu and running a new loom. the loom will cost big dollars and unless you get the ecu with the motor it aint worth the money.

Anyway... I was under the impression that the issue was mechanical? that the computer was picking up too much load on the throttle body actuator? I just had Ideas for bypassing that... hmmm...

Throw that idea out the window... :spit:

a way I was thinking of doing this and I said it to NOSXR was to setup something that got a feed from the tps (they work on a voltage 0-3v I think) there is a motor controller controlling the second throttle body and it gets its signal from the tps so as the voltage from the tps increases the second throttle bodies controller opens it up. the problem is setting up the motor controller to work from the tps im no engineer so its probably a touch out of my league. just an idea.
