Yeah that was me. It wasn't limp mode I'm pretty sure. It just wouldn't run at all :gooff:  Only had the thing 2 weeks  :crybaby:

Oh well. I think it was just the heat getting to it as it has been fine ever since. I'll check the plugs this arvo and see how that goes.

Hi Goobz,

Mine stalled into what looked like limp mode than no RPMs whatsoever twice on the first day driving to the Snowy Cruise last year. It was hot as buggery as well like your Sunday yesterday, possibly. I thought my trip was cactus before it even started  The collective FordXR6Turbo brains trust around me eventually found the solution - we pulled the negative terminal off the battery to reset the engine management CPU. Did the job and I was able to do the circuit the next day and more (on the way home through Mt Hotham) without an issue :spoton:

Maybe that helps you?

Sounds like you guys had a good time too :w00t2:

Gary,

The cruise yesterday was a breeze compared to the Snowy Mountains cruise, when all our engine temps would have been very high.

Driving yesterday was very easy, close to sedate, with a lot of slower traffic.

Simply no comparison.

Brian

Yeah I'm still no closer to what went wrong. The needle on the temp gauge was sitting smack on halfway though. But I put a scanner on it today and there were no codes there so its got me buggered. My mechanic mate who owned the scanner reckons it could be a dodgy fuel pump. Maybe it overheated or popped the relief valve? Sound feasable? I have a walbro here so I might just put it in and be don with it. One more thing to rule out anyway...

Truly the carbie looked like it was as clean as a whistle BUT still needed cleaning a third time to get it right, they reckon they can blow little bits of sh*t down the line when cleaning it out.

On another occasion the fuel pump was also the headache and had to be replaced.

Welcome to how to donate money to a Ford - remember we keep the company and all of the ancillary businesses going - doesn't it just make you feel great

The other guys may comment on their gauges, but I doubt I was anywhere near half way. You were a few car in front in front of me and we were taking it easy, as much of that road was very bumpy and not in very good condition.

If your engine temp was high then probably so was your oil.

If you had your air cond on you may have noticed that it had shut down, and blowing warm air, which is a good sign that something was wrong.

When I had the a/c on my temp guage was sitting on half but car was still running sweet.

Good to see such a large turnout but I felt the odd one out having a XR6T!

Also good to see another couple of red cars, even though they were only Vixen, not the proper red - Venom! :bum::spoton:

A bit dissapointing that more people didn't drive the extra 10 minutes from Bowral to Moss Vale to help support another XR6T owner and forum member's coffee shop.

As much as I and no doubt others would have loved to support Gary's business, the only bit of chaos on the cruise was in Bowral. We arrived, some cars went to the Shell, others driving up and down the main street with hands aloft going WTF??

20+ cars were not going to fit in the Shell and there was not much parking in and around the main street.

Plenty of parking at the museum come's the call , but where the fark is it??

We ended up heading to the Caltex for a refuel and a chat. The rest caught up to us in the end.

Hope Gary and the business are doing well anyway :spoton:
