I am looking at upgrading my clutch shortly, and want to know the options available and in use.

I am not looking for sponsor wars etc - I just want to know what people have, and how they have found them to use.

I have heard of extreme, Wog (aka XTC Performance) twin plates, and Mal Wood Option3 that may be suitable.

I plan on running up to 300rwkw and use the car for towing my race car, so want a clutch that can cope with both (not necessarily at the same time though).

Can you all post what you are using on your manual 6 speeds, and source, approximate prices please?

PS - I dont want shuddering - the car is used to go to work in each day in traffic as well!

Mal Wood Automotive has an 11'' clutch that is unique, it is the ONLY 11'' clutch designed for the XR6T and Typhoon.

This is known as the option 3 and features a Billet Steel Flywheel, an 11'' pressure plate with 2800 lb clamp and an insulated hub 11'' organic clutch plate and to complete the upgrade an Alloy CSC (instead of the factory PLASTIC one). The cost of this upgrade is $1530, this is unchallenged in the market place for outright performance and will hold 400 rwkw. Mal Wood.

hey all just thought I give you my input, Mal wood is this best, so I've heard. But for those who dont have $1500 sitting there. I just picked up today a extreme extra heavy duty chusioned clutch $860 for cltuch and pressure plate. Im getting it fitted on wed, Ill let you know how it goes. Just an affordable choice

I have the FPV twin plate and I luv it, I HAD a heavy duty with an organic plate and that was killing me in traffic, not to mention it only lasted under 3 months then started to slip heaps, its been almost 6 months that I have had the phoon clutch and no slipping, Thumbs up!

Thanks for the replies guys. Anyone with the Wog twin plate clutch out there?

I think I have narrowed my options down to Mal Wood Stage 3 and Wog twin plate.

We offer a 10.5" cerametallic option also, with a higher quality hub. We call it our option two. Cost is $880 inc gst. We do not recommend this for heavy traffic or towing, hence the reason we developed the option three. The option three is also 8kg lighter than the factory unit. Mal.

does the option 2 come with the steel flywheel and alloy csc mal?

No it doesn't come with a CSC and Flywheel, it is just the New H/P pressure plate and the H/P cera/metallic clutch plate. Mal Wood
