The Powerbond 20% billet steel underdrives are they way to go mate, as far as I know.

These are available on ebay for roughly 260-280.

Lemme know how you go with buying/installing one.

Cheers

Hey Vebbers and deano_barra,

Ive only been to 1 guy so far for a quote and he said 'around 200'. which I think is a tad expensive, something like this shouldnt cost more than $100-$120 to install, but im just taking an educated guess...

so im in the low 300rwks now, and am looking for a bit more. had all the usual stuff done, made 314rwkw. since then had a twin 2.5 zorst put on. cat is big. just about to have a dump installed and retuned to suit.

is there any real benefit to putting on an underdrive pulley? $300 or so for 10rwkw is not bad- anyone else found it to be worthwhile?

hate to burst your bubble gt-p but u can buy the 20% under drive pulley kits on ebay for $250 with a belt http://cgi.ebay.com.au/20-UNDERDRIVE-XR6-T...93%3A1|294%3A50 ,for those that didnt quiet understand then concept, its a smaller/lighter pulley that replaces the standard one on the crank, its just one pulley, the ac/alt/water pump pulleys all stay the same, it reduces the resistance on the crank from the accessories with the smaller drive hence the power gain, and it wont affect your cooling enough to make a difference antisocial/ownaxr6t. and whether its a small 2L or a hi-torque 4L its a cheap way to gain <10Kw cobra, it will just be less noticeable on the turbs because it already has a lot more power than a 2L honda/nissan or the standard 4L N/A turbotom/ms700

Sorry 4 chucking names in there, just answering certain queries, not trying 2 make ne1 look like an idiot by singling them out

An Underdrive pulley refers to an aftermarket crankshaft or accessory pulley (such as an alternator pulley) that is designed to drive a vehicle's accessories at a slower rate than stock. Underdrive in general means the input rate of rotation in a system is greater than the output rate of rotation. However, an underdrive pulley is considered to be an accessory pulley that is larger than the stock pulley or a crankshaft pulley that is smaller than the stock crankshaft pulley, even though the accessory may not necessarily be underdriven with respect to the crankshaft pulley.

The change in pully size results in less power needed to drive the accessories and more to drive the car. They only will result in very small gains and are generally only used on NA cars to gain any HP they can.
