thanks everyone for the tips!!

I have noticed my azerus uploads going over 10k a sec so how do I fix that up newl?

I have the d link wireless modem and router and I got it less than a month ago so I would have thought it would have the best firmware??

will check their website and see what I can find anywhere..

my wireless network is not encryped at all and I cant remember the problem happening when the other adsl modem was plugged straight into the puter!

I do only have a 512/128 connection.

keep the tips coming guys!

thanks again

(ps the screenshot was just to show that some packets are getting lost and others taking v long to reply)

That connection speed is fine and should be a good reliable connection. If it worked with your previous modem when wired into the computer I would say its still fine. I would suggest relocating your access point (Modem) to another location. Out of interest is the modem near a cordless phone, XBOX 360 wireless controllers or even a microwave oven? These types of units can create interference with a wireless network. As I said for a simple test just try relocating the modem in another part of the house this is a fast easy way to test for interference. Let use know how you go.

Thanks

Louis

Tools menu->Options->Transfer from the tree on the left. KB/s max is the field you're after. Set that to 10 and that'll leave you a bit of breathing room for the TCP overhead as well as browsing, chatting, and the like.

thanks everyone for the tips!!

this ended up heping the most as the firmware wasn't the latest and so far shes working great.

also thanks to newl for putting me onto the upload limiter as that also helped a bit I think before I did the firmware upgrade!

okay guys, another problem..

my dads mac is on this network too and it just seems to take the port that azerus on my computer wants to use. attached is the error that comes up when I load azureus..

the problem doesn't always show its head when 1st creating the network (I've had to make a few now...) but in the end it always happens..

I see that in the azureus options you can change the port which it uses for UDP (whatever that is  ) so do I just punch another number in there and hope for the best?

is there a way I can get the mac to leave this port alone so azureus can use it?

cheers in advance..

bloody macs......... :gooff:

just tell azureus to use a different port that doesnt conflict with anything else on your network.

oh and dont forget to forward the port you choose in your router/firewall/modem etc aswell

and 1 last thing, your dropouts that you were complaining about at the start of this thread have nothing to do with azureus. it has nothing to do with any part of your internet connection for that matter either. your only pinging your local router. Id say its some 2.4ghz devices in the area that are causing you hassles.

Maybe your neighbour has just bought himself a new 2.4ghz cordless phone???? just my 2c.

thanks shock..

I think our home phone is 2.4ghz :rl:

guess it is something that I'll have to live with as when I search for wireless networks another one come up, next door as a guess..

as for the other port for azureus, can I just choose the next number, ie 43020?

or is there some other specific number I should choose?

thanks for the insight shock :spoton:

you can use any port number you like as long as its below 65536 and not being used by any other application or PC on your network.

Your very unlucky to be using a port number that high that is already in use :spoton: but the ods are that the next number up should be ok to use, or just change the 43020 to 53020.

maybe you have more than 1 pc on your network that is running azureus and both may be configured to use the same port???

just remember to forward the port you choose in all the appropriate places otherwise it will still give you grief :smilielol:

okay at home now and have changed the port with success and it all seems to be working fine..

how do I go about 'forwarding the port'?

cheers
