having trouble with my internet and router..

sometimes it wont load pages etc and its pretty random when I try and ping it..

see attached pic.

resetting the router helps but only for a few hours then its back to the same old thing.

tries setting up a new network but it doesn't seem to help

There could really be so many reasons why your connection is timing out. ADSL is very prone to what is could Jitter and this can often be a larger problem when it’s working through a wireless modem. The photo does not really show much in the way of what could be causing the problem, but I would suggest you thoroughly check all your physical connections first leading into and up to your modem. Make sure all cables are connected firmly and are in good condition with out any cracks or excessive bending in the cable. The next thing I would try is a physical wired connection to your PC to see if the connection is a wireless related problem or a potential ISP related problem. If you have success with a wired connection I would call your ISP and ask them to slow your connection speed down by a few MB this may help in the transportation of the data through your wireless network as data packets are generally dropped if errors are found within them during transportation. This is often the case in ADSL2 connections as Jitter is more evident in faster connections and jitter means errors, and errors means dropped packets I hope this helps but as I said these are difficult problems to fix in these sort of situations.

*cough* Throttle your outbound Azureus traffic.

e.g.

If you have 512/128 connection, max upload should be 10K/s (leaves enough room for normal usage).

I'd follow the suggestions of others as well regarding the firmware. Just make sure that you keep a copy of the current version as going forward isn't always the best solution.

Also, have a poke around whingepool (whirlpool.net.au) on their forums regarding your brand and model number of router and wireless to see if there have been any others with similar problems and if so, the possible solution.

What security encryption are you running WEP or WPA, I've seen linksys wireless devices drop out every few min when running WPA until you apply latest firmware update. Try resetting modem and running without any encryption (save your current settings first).
