I've done exactly what ypurv4 has done and mine sounds like p00. It sounded mint in my last car running off an alpine deck in conjunction with an alpine minidisk.

I don't get the low freq. that the subs are used for anymore.

Yeah he is right it would sound heaps better of a head deck, but this way is cheap and quick and its alright I have very good base but its not 100%.

You can go all out and buy this computer thing which balances out all your high low freq but it cost like $300 so it really comes down to how much are you willing to spend.

I agree. Mine is able to go much louder than stock, so it is much better.... but not comparable to running off a deck that's all. I can't complain because this cost me almost nothing to do and is quick, so you get what you pay for in the end!!!

I think you might be right, it would just too easy otherwise.

I don't suppose you'd know which wires on the amp to hack into?

Nah I didnt really have that good a look, shouldnt be too hard to sus out, it'd be the four that look about the same size two one colour two another colour for left and right.

I think I'll end up doing this myself, Ive been running subs and a speaker amp for ages just off the ipod, the last piece of the puzzle will be getting a good signal from the stock head unit. I've got a low levl converter but it sounds like sh!t.

OK, so I located this handy wiring diagram and it looks like the boot amp is only powering the sub? Am I reading this right?

Which means I can go around this amp altogether and install my own amp to run the sub only? Also then all the other speakers are receiving full-range signal fom the ICC or he ICC is doing the filtering itself.

Thoughts or comments?

You still need to pick up your RCA's from some were dont you???

if your amp has the hi input feature you dont need to worry about RCAs.

I run a 12 inch sub and an amp in my F6, the amp has the hi input option so I just disconnected the wires from the factory sub, and ran them to the new amp. I didnt use the low-pass filter as the signal is already set on low-pass.

it makes everything vibrate, but I still think it could be better.

will investigate bypassing the amp tomorrow.

regarding the wiring diagram, could someone offer a second opinion as it appears as though the signal to the factory amp is MONO???

Does it seem like this to anyone else???
