Ok guys just wondering if its ok to wash my engine bay? Im going to one of those do it yourself car washes.... the ones with the brush and high pressure hose. They have a degreaser that is meant to be used for the bay.... but im unsure if their is anything in the engine bay that shouldnt get wet....

Should I just get a wet rag and wipe everything down???

Cheers Mike....

Do not use the high pressure hose on the engine and electrics. Just sorta rinse with water gently. If you use heaps of pressure you may well get water into all the small electric connections.

So it is ok to use the degreaser and just rinse off with low pressure ey??

I've done this before in the old car and used high pressure and my alarm stopped working hehehe....

I use a product called Simple Green. It can be bought from Bunnings and it a great cleaner for anything.

It is an enzyme based liquid that eats dirt and oil. I turned a 15 year old VERY dirty engine bay in my old VR4 into an engine bay that looked like it left the factory.

You just spray it on and hose it off under normal pressure.I

Ok.... Just got back from the car wash and a bit of spirited driving..... The engine bay is all clean but it lacks the 'shine'... It looks clean but that's it.... can anyone suggest a product to give the bay some shine... eg: The rubbers, air box, other box's, factory cooler piping etc.....

Cheers Mike
