It was along New South Head road in Sydney, with lot’s of bends and hills. My son drove the car first. He’s a young gun, does track work, and handles a car very well. After 5 minutes or so, he gets more confident, gets the hang of changing manually the auto and the 6-pot brembos, approaches a 90 degree right bend aggressively then boots out of it quite well. Go a k or so and my son says there’s cops following us and the lights are flashing. I say “sure”, look around and there are flashing lights about 200 metres behind us, and about 10 cars between us and them. He says “I’ve lost my licence now… double demerits”. Gradually all those cars move aside, and police get closer to us, and we came to a stop at a set of lights behind a line of 15 cars. The cops come up beside us, and continue, and we breathe a sigh of relief. Cops turning right… no, u-turns, and drives slowly back past us, and we agreed not to even look at them.On the return of the test drive we drive back the same way, but sedately. We were horrified to see that where my son took that corner, it was actually Rose Bay police station. Pretty lucky I’d say. The car was Ego, which looks a bit bland, and does not look remotely like a boy racer colour. We reckon if it was octane, rapid, red or any bolder colour we’d be gone. So we have a new found respect for that colour. The other possibility is that they saw the trade plates, and decided it was too much trouble. I wonder if they’d actually impound a car that was being test driven. My son thought the F6 was a bit sloppy, nowhere near the fun or precision of the STi. I thought the grip of the tyres was a bit ordinary, but as I expected. The woman salesperson I think was a bit horrified, but she said we handled the car very well. God knows what she really thinks …. those hoons, perhaps.Any way a lot of test driving fun, but could have been very expensive.Brian

While it is not a point and shoot weapon like a worked Rex, it can hold it's own in the twisties and on the track. Also was it YOU or your son that is interested in the F6 ? In 6 months I may do a major parts transplant between the cars. It'll give us time to evaluate options.I'm not going to commit to an auto unless I'm happy with it as a longer term option.I expect that he'll gain some respect for what the Ford can do.We still have 2 STi's to play with.Brian

Around town that STi is a very easy and nimble quick car to drive, although it is now far better after fitting the lowered STi springs that are available. I think the grip of the F6 tires lets it down; the Pirelli Corsa's I have would transform it; equally the STi tires are near semi slick also. In a straight line I doubt there's much between the 2 cars.Of couse I'm more interested in the F6, and my son needs some education.Brian
