I'm even more pisssed off now. Hear an interview on am radio yesterday arvo where a water management company has been trying to get the NSW Government to adopt their plans for the las 4 years! NSW Labour and Sydney Water have been blocking them and they've had to take it to court to force them to listen.

Anyway, their plan is to water harvest (recycle sewerage and catch storm water). The thing is, Sydney's water already has treated and untreated sewerage going into Warragamba dam from the catchment area. Basically they can clean this water so much that it will be poluted by the dam water when they add it in. It all then gets filtered and treated again on the way out of the dam. It costs a fraction of this de-sal plant, is environmentally friendly and produces a hell of a lot more water.

The killer was that if they'd been allowed to put this all in place 4 years ago when they started, the dam would now be overflowing!!!! He had proof that Sydney does not have a rainfall problem, just a water management issue. (Note, this is for Sydney, not country NSW where rainfall is almost non existant). He also mentioned that it is a similar issue in most costal areas of Australia.

Why the fucck are we then forced to stop watering gardens and washing our cars while the guys enforcing these stupid rules sit back and actually block real solutions.

Installed a water tank now, so looking forward to being able to wash the car again at home. I always felt the pay car washes sort of never did as good a job as a hand job at home - always felt rushed at the pay car washes, can take my time at home. This week has been good with the rain on and off. Looking forward to more rain :spoton:
