The Data dot stickers keep the part strippers and rebirthers away as well.

You are kidding arn't you. DD are only good if somehow the police get a hold of the part's, which happens to about 0.002% of stolen part's. WHat is slowing rebirthing down with newer ford's is the sticker id tag's, once removed there buggered. They can't be reissued for any reason. Also the new rta laws that require any car (under 1o yr's old) that's a repairable write off to go over the pit's, every nut and bolt that goes into it must have receipts. That stops stolen part's going onto damaged car's.

DD do sh*t for car that have been stripped and sold as part's as ono one checks to see if it's a stolen part or not, how can they. If they do manage to find and somehow read the dot's they have no idea if it's stolen or not.

Sad but true. :spoton:

I've had the biggest probs with my alarm in my XR6 -

first I went to Tonkins Audio because my uncle got his cars done there & told me they were really good.

Had to go back SIX times to adjust the microwave & sensitivity & the guys at Tonkins had the nerve to tell me the reason behind the problems with the alarm was that the tint on my car was illegal!!!

After I rang up Ford & found out the exact grade of my tint & let the guys @ Tonkins know, they had nothing else to say...

I ended up having them uninstall the alarm & went through Ford (which I should have done in the first place) to find one of their affiliates to do the alarm for me.

$200 cheaper & service with a smile.

They did a great job & even ended up having to remove some loose wiring left behind by Tonkins.

I reckon the problem to begin with was that Tonkins are a lot more familiar with Jap cars & probably didn't have enough experience installing alarms in the BF model XR6.

Yea if they can manage to get it good luck, if I catch you trying your f*cked.

:spoton:

Offence is the best defence, steal my car and I'll :beerchug: snap your :censored: head then use a :censored: bucket to :censored: your :censored:, then I'll :censored: find my Ponting Cricket Bat with the 3" nails through the :censored: end of it and fit it in your :censored: ear :censored: sideways............think you get the point. To all those who steal cars out there I sleepon in the back.

Black & Tan security when it's at home.

I have insurance otherwise but I'd prefer not to claim or rely on that as improvements/market value/agreed excess will always mean you're underinsured and lose money.

Less than 1% of cars stolen or involved in accidents are Yellow too so I take some solace in that (main reason for initial colour choice)

I must admit when I bought the car it was the greatest thing ever, and I guess emotions at the time made me pay the extra for the Ford car alarm.  I now think perhaps the it could have been money saved.

As is mentioned in the poll "I don't care as I have insurance". This is now how I think.

Where I live it's privately garaged, and at work it's in an fenced camera monitored parking area.

I guess my thoughts on the alarm was for those times I'm away etc.

Agree with everything except for the "don't care" bit. I'd still be pretty f*cking pissed off!

Hopefully there'll always be something else around that's easier to lift. I also have comfort in the fact that it's either usually parked in my garage or in the basement at work that you could never tow anything from.

:spoton: Insurance again here. But I agree if I catch em at it, they'll be the ones requiring insurance.
