I know the boys at your local paint n panel shops are always good at touch ups and what not but how do they do it? I knows more to it than just gettn a compressor, spray attachment and paint mixed, or is there? the stone chip touchups is the part that most interests me just wondering if theres any good reads out there for hints and tips.cheers

Had to paint strip the bonnet and send bumper off to plastic bumper repair mob for stripping and fixing up a few undertray scrapes while it was there. Looked like my car had stone chips on front bar and it had just been painted over without actually filling the chips. This is very interesting because I bought the car new. Maybe it got chips from being on the transporter coming from Melbourne to Canberra. You can get a clear plastic film that goes over the front of your car that is supposed to protect from this sort of damage. Don't know how good it is or how much it costs, I think it has been discussed on the forum before, I saw an advertisement for it in an auto accessory type magazine I was browsing at the newsagent the other day.The other alternative is a car bra or course. These days you can get them colour coded to match your car and even get a XR of FPV logo on them. I had a (black) car bra on a previous car and personally found it more of a pain in the arse to pull on and off and it took up nearly the whole boot unless you spend the time to fold it up neatly. Also one of the folding metal tabs lost it's folding capacity so allowed a corner of the car bra to flap in the breeze with a potential to cause damage. They did an awesome job. Perfect colour matching. Not sure exactly how the guy did it though.
