Drink drivers much more often than hoon drivers lose there licence. This is intended to stop them from driving as they no longer hold a licence, and yes I know it does not.

I agree and first of all well done headsex on the way you have handled your car being taken from you over Christmas.

The whole hoon v drink/drug driving thing does get me. I have lost count of the number of times I have picked up the the paper and read an article along the lines of a driver injuring or killing someone whilst drink driving disqualified due to previous drink driving charges.

These people more than likely have a drinking problem rendering them incapable of rational thought and they are far more likely to re offend if they still have a car to drive than a "hoon"

If they are repeat offenders then take the car off them too

Well done Headsex,I know it sucks loosing your car but great to see somebody being man enough to take responsability for their actions and copping it on the chin.Fantastic post and topic. But imagine what the response would have been if you had been let off with a warning and the topic of the thread was "Just got let off for doing burnout"

that's true.. I think their should be more concertraion on catching drunk/drug drivers! we more booze buses around!

I know people who do this stuff alot.. and never get pulled up

it really makes me wonder how many people are out there everyday and just because they aren't drivin sideways down the road, they wont get picked up unless there is a booze bus

Tony,

What you fail to realise is these people at Maccas are asking for it.  I have seen these lowered noisey cars with massive sterios crusing with 5 people in the car with the driver leaning back.  The car screams LOOK AT ME, so the cops will look at them.  Then they will usually get some lip from the driver about why he is being hasseled and so the cops will throw the book at them.

Yes there are a few cops with a chip on their shoulder, but after pulling over 100 cars and getting abuse form 50%, you would too.

If you have a car with a loud exhaust, big sterio that you have up loud and lowered, you are asking for attention, so there should be no complaints when attention is given.

I do not agree with you why should someone be punished because they have a nice car, I can tell you from experience that some can be real pricks others good.

I have bee sworn at with words like you f*cking idiot because I took off spinning the wheels in the wet, there is absolutely no excuse to talk to anyone in that matter I dont give a f*ck who they are

Hey headsex ,

Good idea , start a thread showing you have learnt your evil ways and maybe you can use it in court to get a more lenient sentence (juste delete this post though).

Honestly I think us aussies have be come a bunch of wimps, our fathers wouldn`t have put up with this crap, 1st speed cameras, hoon laws, not being able to smack your children when naugthy and all the other bullsh*t crap laws that sneak in.

it has nothing to do with safety or anything else just revenue raising that's my 2 cent.

Confiscate the car for a week ,a month f*ck even a year, but sell it for profit that's BULLsh*t.

Funny Booze buses were mentioned. I remeber talking to some VIC coppers many years ago about booze buses, about a year after there implementation. The hierachy in the VIC police, ordered there booze bus operators to use them in times when it was unlikely to pick up drink drivers, so the statistics, would show a sudden drop in the occurence of drink driving. This in turn justified the expenses of Booze buses, and so they could buy some more.

Statistics hey ,what a handy tool they are.
