You have probably pulled the hose iff the actuator so there is no boost signal to act on the diaphragm. Im assuming you car has been tuned... As I would think that the factory tune would have clipped the o/boost before 30psi.

Or you plugged the hose into the wrong outlet! I have done this several times! Boosted over 30psi :/ make sure the hose is in the correct outlet on the solineiod as one is a breather!

Lol sounds like you lubed things up a little too good. Check the hose that connects to the front housing.

To much wd40 surely wouldn't cause overboost!

Make sure the hoses are on and on the correct spot. Chuck some pics up of the solineiod and your turbo front!

Maybe when u got it tuned it was pretty gummed up and now that uve cleaned it its not controlling boost like it was when it was tuned.. Either that or Uve split a hose or its now leaking... Or its shagged now or not plugged in properly.

I'll pull it out again this arvo.

I have the actuator line going to the side outlet and the turbo nipple line going to the top of the solenoid.

Feels great to drive now but really gotta watch the gauge and not go over 15psi :/

Tried this today on my mkII FG and noted the solenoid appears to be in a slightly different location to the mkI that makes it a bit easier to get to.

But being lazy, I just undid the hose from the turbo and squirted some RP7 in there.

It took me longer to get a photo of it than to actually do the job !

I decided to do this as I just got a new nizpro cooler and I think the bigger volume might have affected the time it took to build boost, so I thought this might help a bit and I'm pretty sure it did.

Hi, I used wd40 to lube the boost solenoid....f*ck me makes a world of difference! funnie how I only did it about 5000k's ago...

Im just wondering how common are they to fail or get "tired" over time? would it be best for me to replace it? if so what the part number for it?

is it better to take the solinoid off completely and clen it out with carb cleaner then lube it with wd40??

also is there a spring on the wast gate? ive herd these can get weak over time aswell??
