Hey guys, I'm going to do this boost solenoid maintenance on my typhoon this weekend. Just wondering if I need to do anything different to the xr6 turbo seeing that the typhoon's come with the alarm?

Yeah, I have the factory alarm as well and you need to switch the ignition to ON, then remove the battery. When you put the battery back in, make sure the ignition is OFF.

Thanks mate, I'll do that tomorrow. :bum:

Like some other people, I found this maintenance on the solenoid only lasted short term(a day or so). Well today I decided to splash out and buy and new one from Ford for the huge cost $39.00, My BA1 has done around 100,000Km, and I must say I feel like I have a new car.

Well worth the investement! :bum:

The part No. from ford is BAT 9W487A as it took me 2 dealer to track it down due to their usual incompetence :spoton:

The solenoid is not a sensor its just a solenoid, are you putting an after market boost controller on? I even fitted one to a standard BA MKII without edit and it runs on 6.5psi without any problems.

yes im going to use a gizzmo ebc so I can lower the boost as my clutch is not able to hold the power.

the gizzmo has a simple 2 wire installation so I dont think I will stuff it up :spoton:

Ah, they are supose to be fairly good, but yeah, the ecu only tells the solenoid what to do, it doesnt take info from it so just leave it unplugged.

I use a mbc and all is fine, I can adjust from 6psi to whatever the turbo will want to go to

I havnt had the time to fit the gizzmo today but I did fit an old bleed valve after lunch and did some testing.

4.5 psi no bleed

up to 9/10 psi with no spike. after that 2.5 turns out it goes to 15psi with a big spike.

I have set the bleed valve to 9 psi and it gets up to 11psi in 4th with no clutch slip.

im happy for now as now I can give it a bit without smoking clutch material.

using half turns I can get 6 7 and 8 soild psi. then 9 sipkes a bit, not too bad for old school boost control. :roflmbo:

just did the solenoid thingo but had to remove the battery to do it.

I pulled of both hoses and flushed it right out.

I also pulled the hoses right out and flushed them out aswell ( a lot of black  came out of them to ).

but now I got a new prob the car is oversteering and there is smoke coming from the back tyres, its not hapning all the time though, just from a standing start or exiting bends.

wots wrong with it and is it covered under warranty?
