I think the TB cleaning is more about the laminar flow of air through it than the sticking side of it.

I don't think it would be laminar flow, more like reduced pressure drop due to the rough walls through the throttle body. I cant see the airflow being particularly laminar after going through the turbo, the intercooler and all the piping. Not to mention going past the butterfly of the throttle body itself if you're not at WOT...

hmm, now that I think about it, it could be a build up restricting airflow when the butterfly is mostly closed which would explain the issues at idle I guess.

No. It will say code as the system is checked for a few seconds. After that it will function as normal.

Took a shortcut doing this on mine the other day and just took the hose off the actuator and filled it with WD40. Let it soak for a couple minutes then drained out the excess. Noticed heaps off difference with boost coming on earlier and easier to get to then the solanoid. Put a hose clamp on for a safe measure to stop it slipping off the actuator.
