Boost Solenoid Maintenance

probably a good idea steve, but dont have the cash right now to have someone look at it. Ive been taking it real easy since though mainly because of how much fuel it eats when I give it some pedal. I swear I can see the fuel needle move :crybaby: . Any Idea how long it would take and what the rate is for someone to have a look at it is so I know what to expect?

30 minutes to an hour? When I was worried about my own overboosting from loading it up in 5th on the freeway, it took about 30mins to get the car all set up and the logging started.

Cost wise, depends on the shop!

hey thanks its actually clearer than the image in the manual. that's how it is now.

heres how I found it(ignore your hoses), why would it have been connected this way do you think?

when did you buy it? was the seller trying to sell it as a mostly stocker?

by bypassing the solenoid you would run only what boost setting the wastegate actuator is set for I.e. stock = around 5 psi.

I would say that your tune isn't the factory one since its now boosting higher than normal with the solenoid connected.

I bought it about 4 months ago now from a car yard. They didnt try and sell it as stock or modded and not knowing anything about charging at the time only noticed the growler. I took it to my missus mechanic and that's when the exhaust system and intercooler were pointed out to me.He also said something about a dial or tap or something attached to the engine somewhere that only controlled the sound it made ,ie the flutter from the growler. Turns out I cant find any tap/dial and I dont think he really new what he was looking at. From what I have read if the boost goes too far from stock without any ECU tuning the vehicle should go into limp mode which hasnt happened. I might take the valve cover off and check the springs to see if theyre stock and see if I can find a part number or something on the injectors. Hopefully everything is good. The car feels awesome how it is now. even driving around town at low rpm is more responsive keeping whilst out of boost .

the injectors are the stock bosch items according to google.Just a thought, I was reading in the forum somewhere that the soleniod may be bypassed due to the exhaust system being fitted , maybe in an attempt to cure overboosting.
