Do you really have two blown light globes? The service itself sounds fine, but the price should stop there and should include parts and labour (a logbook service is listed in the handbook and they should include nothing less in their price).Spark plugs are good until the 105k service... so that is obviously unnecessaryThose are some damn expensive brake pads! Over $220 to supply and fit front pads? Is your handbrake really a problem? In the words of Darryl Kerrigan "Tell him he's dreamin"

It seems if you dont really know what they are putting in front of you and you blindly hand over the keys it's like writing them a blank cheque.Honestly, it really does pay you to do some research into these things before you let someone rip you off. If my service department finds something wrong with the car, they give me a call and tell me. To date, they have called me about one item (a small hose) that was a problem, and I told them to go ahead and do it. I have never heard them tell me "we need to replace your rotors, your brake pads, adjust your handbrake, blah blah....... because they have checked and certified that it doesnt need doing. My car has done over 108000km, so these cars that have done 75k and getting new rotors...................... you are being taken for a ride! Unless you like driving everywhere with your foot on the brake! Words of advice when taking your car to the dealer for service:Ask for a list with a quote of what your service includes (it should include oil and a filter!)If you buy your own oil and filter, great! It will save you money!!! My 75k service cost me $99 because I supplied oil and a filter.Tell them that if there are any problems with the car, that they have to call you first to get your approval, and if they do anything not on the list that you will not be paying for it (that's why you sign the form)If you think their price is unreasonable, it probably IS and you should take your car elsewhere. When you pick up the car check it thoroughly for damage before you leave the yard, so if there is a problem you can show them that it wasn't you because you haven't left yet... this has happened to me twice and both times was fixed in good faith. Also got some small problems that should be covered under warranty.I asked them what they are going to do for the service becuase it's early (due to the 6 month or 15k bs) they told me basically the oil and oil filter, I wonder how much they're going to charge me.I've also has a N/A XR6 wich the killed the power steering pump on and did nothing about it. I decided to give them this one last chance, if they shaft me I'll never go back there again, I'll take it to another Ford dealer maybe in Innisfail or Tully. Shafted, butt raped and screwed sideways. No wonder my car only ever goes there for warranty work.
Codrin Member 11 Member For: 17y 5m 8d Gender: Male Location: Cairns Posted 01/08/07 06:17 AM Share Posted 01/08/07 06:17 AM Well I picked the car up and apart from them trying to charge me for some clamps to fix a rattle in the exhaust all went well. The price for the service was $180. The car also feels better now. They fixed a problem in the steering rack. Overall I'm quite happy, even thou I have had problems in the past with them. They quoted me $180. Did mention 90,000 was the big one.

Apart from that, it should go to a dealership three times in it's life, 1st whe you pick it up, 2nd for the free service (for which they do 3 5ths of sweet FA), 3rd when you go to trade it in.Ford (and other manufacturers) really need to pull their service departments into line. These days, the costs of running cars is high on a purchaser's list, and something the manufacturers make a point of in their marketing. These artifically inflated dealership service charges only serve to dramatically increase a car's running costs as the NRMA, etc use dealership pricing to establish their annual costing reviews.
