Guys,

I currently have a BA MKII XR6T 4spAuto Luxury Pack. I've had my car for nearly 2 years and is completely stock - always use BP Ultimate (98RON). I'm very happy with it and would like to mod it slightly without spending too much. Here is where I need some guidance... please!

NB: I'd say I drive it spiritually about 15% of the time otherwise I take it easy. Off the lights about 30% of the time I give it full throttle to about 100km/h. I'm happy how it goes but just want that little bit more zoom and slightly better brakes.

The mods I want to do are:

1. CAPA Edit with custom tune. Q. Do I need to strengthen the auto or require an auto cooler? Will the this edit make the auto fail in the long run? I plan on keeping the car for another 5 years at least...

2. Front sway bar - whiteline 27mm

3. K&N air filter - so that I dont need to keep on paying for a FORD filter

4. Want slightly better brakes. Thinking of gettting slotted DBA rotors all round but not sure what pads to get. Dont want to squel or have heaps of brake dust. Suggestions please... As I said I'm 85% happy with the brakes now just want a little less of a brake fade...

5. Change spark plugs to NGK BKR6E (I think they are pre-set to .8mm). Is this ok? Will my car run with these spark plugs if flashed back to factory tune?

Basically, I want the car as stock as possible but a little more zoom zoom and better brakes somewhat.

I hear so many good things with this CAPA Edit custom tune and I cant wait but I would like the driveline to last too... By the way, how many rkw should I expect?

Thanks heaps...

First of all, I would like to know what "spiritual" driving is like??? Is that when you close your eyes and drive using only the "force" to guide you??? :roflmbo:

Seriously though, there are plenty of threads describing the results that you could expect from certain mods. Edit is definitely the way to go power wise. You may not need much more than that if you want to stay within the limits of the auto, maybe consider injectors aswell.

The front 27mm swaybar will improve your handling but alos make sure you do the back other wise the car feels unbalanced. These will come painted silver, but I sprayed mine black so Ford doesnt notice them.

Your 85% happy with your standard brakes, then you must be a first. The standard brakes on the BA are Sh!t and yes DBA slotted 4000 are one of the better ways to go.

Dont think you need to worry about injectors or changes to your gearbox for the gains your looking for.

Spend some time in the mods sections and all of your questions above are fairly well answered with alot of deatail.

If you add some 4000 series rotors and ferodo pads then you'll be happy I'm sure. Other pads to consider might be RB74's. I have the ferodo's and they might squeel once every now and then but not much at all. If you don't take the car to the track then this brake setup will be plenty good enough.

As for the extra torque you will be putting through the gearbox after an edit then there is no doubt it will effect it's life span. The 4 speed auto was only made to handle the 450nm that's why they are the week point. But like anything when it comes to reliabilty you'll get back what you put in. Get a better grade transmission oil, change it reqularly, possibly a trans cooler and with your driving style it should last you for quite a while.

Does that mean you only need then to work 15% of the time :roflmbo: ?

I'd agree Edit for power and just a higher friction brand of brake pad. I wouldn't worry too much about slotted rotors - they don't really do much to increase braking force and they will triple to brake dust on your rims.

Just be aware it wont filter as well as the factory job. I used to use a K&N, now I've switched back.

And dont bother changing the plugs, The NGK Iridiums are definitely up to the job at the power your looking for.
