Today I asked them to ensure the Orion DOESNT weigh more than the BA/BF and asked them to fixed the bloody speedo and tacho (I hate how they have heaps of indistinct increment lines and hate how the numbers go sideways on the edge of the gauges).I would be happy if the Orion was a smidge smaller in the length, width and height departments. Expensive Daewoo stuffed up big time with the VE and Ford has an opportunity to really hit back. If it' get the looks right, makes the car overall about 150mm shorter, maybe 25mm narrower, loses 100kg and improves city fuel economy by 10-15% it might have a chance of returning to the number 1 spot. If it doesn't I predict this will be the last Falcon we see. Given however, the Orion is not an all new car but an evolution of the current Falcon, I don't hold out much hope for these sort of improvements except maybe looks. When I look at some of the really good cars coming out over the next 2-3 years it's only going to get harder for huge cars like the Falcon and Late model camira no matter how good they look. personally I don't see any need for a car much bigger than say a Liberty/Accord/Mazda6/BMW 3 series, Aurion being max size. Expensive Daewoo has admitted they will put the Torana into production and to me that's a perfect size and it was targeting a sub 1600kg weight. But as a consumer, I dont want a smaller Falcon, I like the size it is. It is a family car, and I dont know about you, but with three girls 17, 13 and 11. I would prefer if it was a touch larger. That is a pretty bold statement and I would like to know what you base it on.Scotty

I know I may be a little pedantic but surely Ford should have matched the stud pattern that's on the car!

They are probably working on things further ahead. They way I see it cars are only going to get heavier as safety and peoples requirments for incar facilities gets greater and greater. I would like to see the weight go down and power go up but I find that unlikely.Just hope they make the new Orion look the goods and perform well.
