I'd suggest (and I can't believe this hasn't been said already in 4 pages of thread) that the reason you're getting attention from the cops is because you're not supposed to be driving the car on your Ps

XR6Ts are on the probationary driver banned vehicles list (go to the vicroads website to download the files if you like) for being high powered cars: any cop worth his salt should be pinging you for driving one. Heck, any V8 is out of the question too.

So whinge all you like.

umm right now the limit is 125kw/tonne or 3.5L/tonne..

the v8, turbo, supercharged, and high powered sixes ban is being enforced as of July 1 next year.

I totally agree with that when I was on my P's I coped it all the time but I was cool with that as I was aware of this when I was buying the car.

I have just been talking about P platers in genrale, which arnt doing the wrong thing, getting hasseled by cop's.

when I was on my P plates I never got hassled once. Mind you, I was driving an old camira. I don't think P platers get pulled over for no reason what so ever.. there's always a reason. If a car looks too low, then why shouldn't a cop pull them over and go over the car? that's not being hassled.. if the car looked standard enough I'm sure there'd be no issue.

Now, here's another point I'd like to raise.. has anyone stopped the think that perhaps P platers might have become a target for the cops lately? with all the deaths, and stuff?? perhaps the cops ARE giving more attention to this specific number of people for the sole purpose of them realising that:

a - the cops are out and about and will pull P platers over and do roadworthy tests, RBTs and licence/rego checks

b - Perhaps by showing more attention to the P platers it will help some, perhaps even 1 or 2 from killing themselves.

Guys, get over it.. who cares if the cops are targetting certain demographics? Does it, or should it really worry you? if your car is in good order, and no illegal mods, then whats there to worry about?? simply pull over, take 5 mins of your day to show the cop that you're all sweet, then off you go. Now in saying that, it's time for me to put new rubber on the car, as I can see myself being the next "victim" who was hassled for the car he drove, because of the jealous cop

Dont cops regulalry taget certain demographics, the drink drivers on friday/saturday nights, the hoon drivers around the waterfronts on sunday nights and the speed demons on public holidays going away for the weekend.

Of course all you p platers out there are being targeted. P plate drivers have the highest incidence of serious and fatal crashes for there class of licence and yet represent something like 15% of all licence holders. One of the most common offences by P platers is not display p plates.

I think it will be a matter for you to all live with it or walk.
