Threads merged.

The result would not be a draw and a joint championship between Kelly and Lowndes. Lowndes won more races so the championship would be his.

I don't think they should of changed anything, as I said earlier...

I didn't expect the officals to change anything, why should they really? If this was any other race of the year we wouldn't even be discussing it now. Lowndes also made some silly mistakes throughout the year and any of those could be pointed out as "the moment" he lost the title.

I really wanted Lowndes to win as I feel Kelly didn't do enough through the year to deserve it and it is only because of the stupid points system that he had the chance to win.

In my mind the 2006 championship will always be remembered as the year when nobody won. Instead, the trophy was stolen with bullying tactics and unsportman like behavior from someone that knew they didn't have the pace to RACE and win.

In my opinion, given the extreme and unresolvable controversy of Race 3, it would have been a better outcome for the sport to have declared at yesterday's hearing that Race 3 be classed null and void for the championship.

Therefore, the points score would revert to that after Race 2 - resulting in a draw, and the awarding of joint championship to Kelly and Lowndes.

A much better outcome than the bitterness and division that we have now.

Joint championship :roflmbo::blush:

Maybe in fairyland!

Too much money has been pumped into this competition for there to be no outright winner.

Sounds like you got a bit of HSV inya- no ford fan would even contemplate a shared title. All or nothing.

In all forms of motorsport, tied points will result in a count back. In a count back, the win is awarded to the one who finished the highest in the last race or round. In this case it would be Lownds.

Ford should pull out of this series and put the money into something else. The fact that they managed to win Bathurst and the last 3 titles is an extraordinary effort when you considder how they've had things stacked against them for so long.

I could live with that just to get my grubby little fingers on a 'Phase V'.

Problem is Ford Australia has been in the shadow of Expensive Daewoo for so long they have forgotten how to take the big stick to them.

In any case the whole sport has gone stale. I say bring back the other makes of cars and classes and make it interesting again. A bombed XR6T screaming down Conrod Straight...............if only Avesco was listening to the fans instead of the money weilding sponsors who are only there because of us anyway.
