It would mean that we could have a rim with the correct centre hub hole and offset we require. To get custom rims made up, 10 sets would need to be made. I am considering something like: Rota G Grid (Open to maybe another good design that Rota have) Fronts 18" X 8.5" with around 30 offset with 245 front tyre Rears 18" X 9.5" with around 38 offset with 285 rear tyre Colour : Black The offset would have to be such that there is no rubbing with large tyres, fitment primarily for FG but also fit BA onwards. I am primarily not happy using centering rings made out of plastic or ally and prefer a firm fit between the wheel centre hub and the axle. The fit of the factory wheels on the hub is quite tight and I prefer it this way when doing 280kph. I am looking into costings now and if there are enough people interested a group buy could be done. Most of the very high performance soft compound tyres you can buy come in 18" size so there is no point getting a larger diamater rim. I would think these rims would come in at around $1K a set so for a track rim would be good also. Edited 17/05/12 12:48 PM by turbotrana

turbotrana Member 2,586 Member For: 21y 8m 28d Gender: Male Posted 19/05/12 05:34 AM Share Posted 19/05/12 05:34 AM I know that they are $999 from Vision R. But those wheels do not have the correct centre hub hole. They are designed for Jap vehicles. You will get people who argue that the hub hole size is not important and just there to centre the wheel and that the centering rings are OK to be made out of plastic. Well I say they are wrong and to get a wheel that is safe to factory standards the centre hole needs to match up to the hub. The centering hub gives the whole assembly strength. Anyway it looks too hard to get a group buy going as even trying to get people to agree on offsets is a feat in itself. I believe a rim should sit entirely inside the guard and that the tyre rubber should be wider than the rim to protect the rim against gutter rash. That is why we have some tyres with rash protectors built in with the tyre. THen there are those who want the rim sitting within a bees dick of the guard with 225 wide tyres on a 10" rim. My 30 year experience tells me I want something that is practical and will pass Transport guidelines. So I guess its a no-goer
winstor Member 611 Member For: 15y 9m 29d Posted 19/05/12 10:24 AM Share Posted 19/05/12 10:24 AM that's why you use metal hub rings, 70.5 to 73 from the US for roughly $25 posted. Hub rings are legal as well, guessing if they werent safe to use they wouldnt be allowed.

Perfect for Fg if you don't want to do a full exhaust. These retail for over $300 but we can get them for.. $230 for 5 or $210 for 10 plus $20 postage. Most people will agree Ballistics are one of the best cats on the market and at these prices they are as cheap as a venom cat, best part is we only need five too.
