Kelly is lucky we live in a civilised country....if he was a soccer player methinks he could be swinging from a short rope on a long tree by now...but it's not just him but the whole Expensive Daewoo team fraternity that has both Ford and Expensive Daewoo fans feeling that potentially the best race for many years has been taken away from us.... :birthdaywish:

don't forget that he did the exact same thing at indy last year to Jason Bright (or was it the year before) when he couldn't get past him... he just shunted him off the track...

He can't drive, he's a self-confessed rich kid playing race driver, he wouldn't have a career if his daddy hadn't paid for it.. and I'm sure another few million dollars of donations to avesco will make this go away too.

I really hope all the evidence goes against him and he gets stripped his points... that would really put a rock up his arse for me.

...but I doubt that will happen, he can rejoice in the fact that his tact-less driving style has won him something.

I couldn't find an e-mail address for rickkelly.com.au...

Like most of you on here, I too was appalled at what I saw yesterday at Phillip Island.

Maybe someone can explain to me how, when *beep* Kelly punted Lowndes into his brother's car, the commentators (Compton et al) all agreed it was bad driving on pRicks part to be that close when Lowndes was making an obvious overtaking manoeuvre on Todd - who was giving room for Lowndes as well. They intimated that *beep* saw an opportunity and took it as far as pushing Lownde's car into his brother.

Then about 5-10 minutes later, those same commentators were saying that Lowndes was blocking!!! WTF?? And that he may be in trouble for doing it because of the fiasco with Tander and Skaiffe doing it in the previous races?

I don't know about you guys, but can someone please explain to me how putting a passing move on a guy who was yielding and racing cleanly, constitutes blocking??

Personally, I have had it with the Channel 10 wishy-washy commentary this year - they have been p1ss weak imo, afraid to ask the hard questions and call things as they are. I for one am happy that the coverage is moving to another station, I just hope that the standard improves. We can all see the issues as they have unfolded this year with the racing and the biased officialdom, but its almost as if the commentators have been gagged.

Congratulations to Winterbottom on winning the race 3, it is fantastic to see FPR going so strongly now! They deserve it after plugging at it away for the past few years.

Think of the positives.

Anyone know where there is multipul views can be had from the net?

As at the moment I think what Kelly did was a minor incident. He's seen Lowndes go for the gap and has tried to follow. But has outbraked himself hit lownde who has then spun. Now unfortunatly he has been left in the middle of the track on the racing line with 20+ other cars trying to use that bit of track. Where he is then hit and the damage done. that's it Kelly did not put lowndes out of the race. He was in the wrong and deserved a stop/go.

If it happened with no traffice behind them. Lowndes would have called him a spanker over the radio and been behind him agian within 2-3laps.

Was an unfortunate way to finish the championship for all. And there is some bad sportsmanship awards to be handed out to Toll and HRT.

But as I said at the top, I would like to see the footage agian to make a better decsion. And no I am not a member of the HRT team. Just standing back and looking on.

I have to disagree. From the cabin camera of Kelly's car he is right on Lowndes bumper and then moves across to the inside of the track where he gives him a tap on the right rear wing of the car - spinning him. I don't know where Kelly thought he was going to go because there wasn't enough room to fit a pushbike through.

Not even Lowndes was in a position to pass Todd Kelly into that corner so how did Rick Kelly think he was going to go through a gap that didn't exist?

From the other angle it looks like Kelly is trying to duck up the inside of Lowndes under brakes, but he came from too far back and overcooked the corner. I have no doubt that had Lowndes have been further into the corner Kelly would've swung wide and lost time out of the corner or T-Boned Lowndes.

Just got this off Yahoo!

"Holden's Rick Kelly will retain the 2006 V8 Supercar championship title after stewards dismissed a protest by his Ford rival Craig Lowndes.

A three-man Confederation of Australian Motorsport panel of race stewards took four hours to decide in Kelly's favour.

Kelly won the V8 title for the first time in controversial circumstances at Phillip Island on Sunday after a tangle with Lowndes early in the final race when they were tied on points.

Race officials had ruled Kelly responsible for a third lap tangle which resulted in Lowndes suffering extensive steering damage.

The Late model camira driver was given a drive-through penalty during the race and recovered to finish 18th while Lowndes struggled and ultimately placed 29th.

A race stewards hearing immediately after the event decided Kelly's pitlane penalty was sufficient, but Lowndes' team protested saying it was too lenient as the incident effectively ended their driver's title hopes.

Following Monday's hearing, chief steward Steve Chopping said that, after considering all the facts, the penalty imposed on Kelly during the race was deemed appropriate and no further action was necessary".
