Hi all,

It has been a long time since I've been here and its good to see the forum still going strong.

I'm looking for some advice please. I've got one of the early XR6Ts, December 2002 and the lease is due for payout this month (Ford Credit). I don't need my T anymore, sadly, as my work role has changed and I drive a ute day to day and can't afford the extra car.

Do I ...

Pay it out and sell it privately.

Give it back to the dealer and lose a few thousand.

Refinance and keep it.

Rego is also due at the same time.

It is a manual T with Premium Sound, Sports Steering Wheel in Phantom and done around 100,000kms. Any ideas if there is a market for it at around $20,000.

I didn't post this in Buy and Sell because I'm only really after opinions.

Cheers all.

I would think you would get more than 20k for it privately mate..

redbook says its worth between 18 and 22 so you shouldn't have a problem me thinks..

ps there is not one in autotrader.com for less than 23k..

if it is an auto you should be around $22000.00 but many dealers do not want it as it is now out of warranty...

your best bet if you want to get rid of it quickly is sell it so a smaller performance yard and not a ford dealer

Need to find out what the dealer will give you normally minimum $$. If the dealer gives you the payout $$ then this I think is the easy option, but some times they dont even come close. In this case you will need to advertise.

I guess the question is how hard are you willing to work to sell the car to gain 2K-3K. If it was a company car any amount over the depriciation value will be taxable  so if FORD take it for 20K and you can sell it for $23K this 2-3K bonus will be more like 1-1.5K (Tax margin at maximum) in the hand less advertising expensis.

In short I always give mine back, the last few months it normally has the worst treatment / most fun, which offsets the $$$ I guess

just my 2c
