Hi all

I ahev done a couple of drive days and have been told to get some race spec tyres but I dont know anything about these and looking for advise on what to buy. They would be fitted to rims that I would only use to drive to the track and back, so they need to be road legal. Can you help?

Yoki A048 are one of the best

Bridgestone make one, but they are pretty ordinary in comparison.

Federal make an ok one for the price.

Just look at each manufactures webpage and it will list DOT approved R-Comp / R-Spec tyres.

I have found nothing will increase your lap times more than learning to drive your own car better and being smooth.

I have lapped faster than cars with R-Comps and Bigger brakes whilst I remain on my everyday street tyres.

You'll be looking at ~$3k setup.

For understeer, get some swaybars under the car.. Suspension is a wonderful thing, unless it's Ford factory fitted!!!

It might be said I beat the driver, not the car. But how many cars are driven by themselves??

I'm in the West, so have not traveled the blacktop over there..

rear sway bar, and make sure you have finished braking well before the apex of the corner..

that was the main tip I was given when goin around barbagello..

also more negative camber and positive castor will help!

when I went around the track and it understeered a quick stab at the gas on the slower corners to create oversteer also gets rid of the understeer.

I bought some federal rs595 street legal semi slick tyres for my ute, and I must say the grip is very impressive. holds 360+rwkw in a manual, with a bootload of throttle around a corner very nicely... the factory dunlops would have sent me spinning round and round under the same circumstances...lol... I cant believe how much difference it makes... theyre a bargain at $390 each and I highly recommend trying them...

I have no idea how long they will last though...
