Mate im a big fan of meguires three step polish

They all come in maroon bottles

Step One is a pain cleaner that removes all the crap of your paint work

Step two is a normal polish

Step three is a good wax

Get yourself some good polishing cloths when you get the polish

PS you will need at least 6 hrs free time for best results

Meguires is good, but do you realise that they have Meguires Gold Class which has all of the above setps in one polish, plus Wet Look clear coat as well. I used to use the Claener, Polish, Was and Wet Look, but now Gold Class does it in one go with the same result. :siihp:

All I have ever done with goldie the car that is.

Is a high pressure wash than dry with chamois and than every six weeks or so is as you have said mequires gold class.

The paint has no marks in it and shines better than new.

I have never used a sponge and wash cloth when washing the car as these tend to scratch the surface of the paint.

If you can get your hands on it, try Fire Glaze!!

It is supposedly a one step polish but personally I think that its always better to use a clay bar first or something else to clean the surface.

The Fire Glaze seems to leave an awesome shine on the paint that lasts for ages. It won't evapourate in the sun like carnuba wax and forms a glass like coat on your paint (if you believe the advertising crap).

Some places will charge as much as $90 per bottle but DON'T pay that much. Should be able to get it for $27.50 from a wholesaler.

Can't say I can tell much of a difference regardless of what I use however have always found the maguires stuff best of the mainsteam products.

The secret is to find a sealant / wax that protects the paint surface for longest possible time. This way just washing with water brings the car back to a just polished / waxed finish.

Check out waxit.com.au. The owner put me onto Poorboy products (Polish and Sealant) which are reasonably priced and definately protect the car longer than anything from the meguires range.

Hi

I am looking to put my first polish on my baby and are looking for some suggestions  1: WHAT BRAND

                   2: WHAT TYPE

                   3: WHAT APPLICATION METHOD

Any hints would be most welcome.

p.s. Car is 6 months old, Bionic colour

Im wondering if yours is still a lil too new to polish and perhaps should be just washed and waxed this early on. Revheadrobbo is a clean freak when it comes to his car and it always looks shmick.

Which is better to do for the car. Polish by hand or by machine.

Depends on how good you are with a buffer. The buffer will do a quicker job but if you are not careful you can burn the paint. If you are in any doubt stick to hand polishing.

Hand is always better if there aren't too many stains on the paint. Regardless of how good you are with a buffer, they always leave swirl marks.

start with a claybar mate, gets all the shizzle off the paint to start with.. then whatever decent polish you want to use.. personally I use pinnacle clay, then Zaino Z2 polish followed by P21S carnauba wax for the final coat..

How hard are these clay bars to use, I must say I'm a little bit worried about using one, having never used one before.

the clay is easy as to use.. just cut it in half and keep half in case you drop the 1st half !!!!!! cause you DONT want to use it after its been on the floor!!

also keep the panel nice and wet so the clay doesnt stick etc..

a car is never too new to claybar - the entire trip from factory to showroom it would have been sitting out in the elements getting crap all over it..
